Snapped some pics of the ones I currently play regularly-

The newest one I'm calling 'The Old Man'. It's going to look a little different in about a month once I get all the new plastic bits in, this new looking white ain't working for me. I tracked down some legit looking poser parts so people will think I'm a road warrior with this pile of stolen valor.

Just a shot of MJT's relic work, there's a difference between chucking a keyring at a guitar from across the room and actually aging it. This feels like it occurred before I was born-

'97 JEM7V, this guitar will probably always be my 'home' just because the amount of time I've owned it and basically went from beginner to where I am now on it. I don't think I'd play the same way if I didn't own this guitar; there's nothing you can't do on it and that mentality often (made me feel inadequate) pushed me a bit more.

SZ320 w/ Fishman Devin Townsend set-
This guitar is such a workhorse and was originally bought to be a backup guitar to the JEM because I was snapping strings like crazy live. It ended up becoming my main guitar because it just plays so damn good and can take a beating, literally. I felt like I was going to break my arm playing live without a forearm contour so one night after a few drinks I grabbed a chisel and a hammer and went to town, putting my own contour on it. Then I took a blowtorch to it. I love the pick-damage on there, for whatever stolen valor I have with my relics, this and the JEM make up for it. :rofl

Also, best top-mount bridge ever. Why they didn't keep using this bridge I'll never know, but it doesn't turn your hand into hamburger.

RG7620-
I was on the hunt for either a Universe or a 7620, since the UV's were all $2K+ at the time and this popped up for $500, I went with it. I'm unsure about the 707, I don't hate it but I have some PAF7's that I might drop in and add a pickguard to it to make up for the 707 route.

Love Ola but he's following Ibanez in the 'don't expect your customers to learn your model names'. This thing is a BEAST and more or less replaced the SZ as my main metal guitar. The Evertune does exactly what it advertises it does and I LOVE recording with this thing because of that. It's heavy as hell, it's gotta be pushing 10lbs or more.

PRS SE Semi-Hollow-
Total impulse buy, it played so perfectly off the shelf and I couldn't believe the top on it for being an SE. I knew in about 15 seconds I was going to buy it. I was using this as my main guitar in my former cover band, doing funk/R&B/rock, mainly staying on the neck pickup in split mode. Once I got the Gilmour Strat this didn't get touched again. I played it the other day for the first time and it's still a great guitar but man, the Strats just blow it away in feel/sound. I'm sending this off to my best friend this week, at least this way if I sell it, I can still see it a few times a year.

Spector PULSE-
For $890 you get the legit Spector sound. Absolutely love this bass. Swamp ash body, Macassar ebony board, roasted maple neck and stainless steel frets.

Approve EVERY one of these, especially the drunken bastard. Nice work sir!

Here’s some of my stuff:

I have a friend that just decided one day to start building guitars. He’d never done woodwork before; indeed, first thing he ever built was the bench to start building guitars on. He built one for himself, and after I saw it I threw some $$ at him and had him build this.

2009 Short LP….this is the guitar I offered Gibson $5k to build and they said NOPE.

SS frets, gold MOP inlays, ebony board, black binding on body and neck with nibs, and some PRS McCarty pickups. Been with me the longest. Based on Tom Bartlett’s ‘59 template.

MJT body, Warmoth EVH neck, BKP Piledrivers in drop B. Monster.

Fun little project I picked up cruising classifieds one night on another forum. Was like $100 shipped, dude was pissed and just wanted it gone. Cut a guard, left the stick cause who doesn’t want more horsepower? This was my main recording guitar for about 2 years; it’s got a Fishman Modern in it now. It’s also the guitar I ship to friends that are having down moments and need something to play, with the stipulation that when they’re back up they ship it back with a cool sticker. It’s got a LOT of stickers now.

2011 ESP Viper. I got hurt in a car accident a few years back and couldn’t play as fast or as long as I used to due to a dislocated shoulder. Buddy introduced me to doom and I had to grab this. Was my #1 for a few years until I had to play faster.

‘94 McCarty. Not much to say here. Solid guitar I picked up, and it’s the only axe I have that sounds better in standard than a drop tuning. I leave this for old Metallica/Exodus/Slayer/Panter shit.

Only pic I have of my ‘89 LPC….BKP Painkillers in drop C. Monster of a guitar, resonates like crazy and feels like home.

#1 for the last 6 months and might stay that way for a loooong time, Caparison TAT FX Metal Machine. This is an Adam D Killswitch Engage sig, and I couldn’t have spec’d a better guitar. For me this is a culmination of a lot of different things I’ve liked about a lot of guitars. Nut width, scale length, fretboard wood, tiny SS frets, 1 knob/1 pickup config, mahog body and maple walnut neck, plus the neck shape and radius. It’s INSANE and I’ve never played anything like it. The only thing I’ve changed about this is chucking in an EMG 81; just feels better and I’m more familiar with it.

I have other guitars but these get played the most out of all of them, these are the ones that don’t go anywhere no matter what someone offers me, I can’t replace any of them that I know for sure.

Super cool thread, nice to see where you guys are on your journey!

Dude never works with wood before and puts out a better quality LP than f*ckin' Gibson. :headbang

The chances of me owning a Gibson LPC are slimmer every day. I was ready to drop $5K on a '79 Silverburst last fall/around the same time the Adam Jones sig came out and the prices just shot right up, $5K was my limit. I got 4 other guitars instead and I'll probably just go with an Edwards, Burney or Greco at this point. I'd rather drop $1500 on one of those then spend another $500 to get someone to paint it like an aged Silverburst because the Gibson LPC prices are just insane.

And I want to play a Caparison, but I've never seen one in person except when I've been to KsE shows. I heard they make you sign a contract when you buy one that the first time you play it you have to wear denim short shorts and run around your living room like a WWF wrestler who had his balls lit on fire, post the vid, man!!

Bro it’s also in the contract that the only person I can send it to is Itaru Kannu, sorry man. I signed it, you know?!

I didn’t see this the day you posted it, but man, I really love these guitars and think Ibanez did a disservice by discontinuing them so quickly. I think they could have expanded this line and caught some more fish in the net. If they did a 24-fret version with a Floyd I would have had 3 of them by now. The Kiko sig looks like it gets close since it’s not a typical thin S body.

It was like the perfect marriage of a Strat and a Les Paul. Felt like a big chunk of wood but all the comforts of an Strat.

I actually just played mine yesterday for the first time and after playing the GIANT Strat neck, it felt like a twig in my hands. I used to think it was close to a med C but nope, that things like an extra-small D in comparison. :rofl

I’ve seen them as low as $125!!!! If I were still playing the music I was 15 years ago I’d have no problem having a rack full of just these in various configurations.

Yup. Same scale length as PRS, too.

Pretty sure that was the design intent. To kind of occupy that hardtail land in between a Strat and Les Paul thing.

As I recall the middle position on the pickup selector was split coils from both the neck and bridge to give you
that Strat 2 or 4 thing.

My Helix owning buddy still has the Grey Flame 720, and my other buddy has the 520QM.

They are great guitars!

I wish I still had the 4020 neck thru I had about 10 years ago.

They only reason I ever sold any of those guitars was due to the tiny ass frets
on them. Man, if they had medium jumbo, or jumbo frets they would be perfect!

Yeah, that’s my only gripe about them are the small frets! And indeed correct about the 3-way; when I went to put the Fishman’s in mine it took me an hour to find the original schematic for them and to figure out what kind of switch that was. I ended up just yanking it and using a standard toggle. That one and the gray ones were my favorites, I was always partial to the gray one.
