no and i'm afraid to ask now . but i want them to hurry and do their NAM version of IR capture so i can clone all my stuff outside of fucking NDSP or IK Multimedia ecosystem. u know FAS cloning will be good af. I haven't looking into the freeware NAM options at all, living in an apartment now vs a truck cab has sort of negated the obsession with "how accurate is this modelz" career path for me entirely. hopefully the FAS NAM thing will be usable outside of the box itself unlike the dumb IR capture utility. it's like having a $5000 DSLR camera that only lets you view your pictures on the camera. no sorry you can't export your pictures, our files are proprietary.

I'm sure there will be a time when Cliff rationalises that further updates of the existing device's capabilities would be better served by channeling resources towards a new platform. That would bring in fresh orders for their new flagship device, but I see a bigger strategy coming into play for newer devices like the AM4 and VP4, which would get/need incremental upgrades to remain competitive.

For example, I could definitely see Line 6 at some point of time coming out with new devices in a smaller form factor that would benefit from the Stadium and Proxy capture technology, just like they did with the Helix and Neural is doing with the Quad Cortex.

If Cliff was to abandon further development of the AM4 and VP4, it's fathomable that potential customers would choose Line 6 over any new Fractal hardware since it is a newer generation of technology.

At any rate, the updates that the FXIII keeps getting are certain to keep the user base happy and it is a winning business model.

In that regard, I think the experience Noma had on their forums was unwarranted. At the same time, I understand why Fractal may have reacted the way it did as those are a manufacturer's forums and they explicitly state that everyone is a guest there.

In that regard, whether Noma's feedback on the Axe FXIII was out justified or not, it's a bit far-fetched to expect special treatment because of those contributions. Perhaps it's because English isn't his first language, but statements like "I make outsize contributions compared to everyone else" just come out the wrong way, especially since he's profited from being recognised as a good guitarist and tone creator courtesy his business of tweaking the FXIII.

There is a lot of piling on, both sides are somewhat at fault though

Yek did flat out say if you want to discuss separate authentic pedal effects open a new thread which would have been best chorus of action IMO

Or as Noma said send Cliff a quiet pm and leave it out of the firmware thread

For the record I think Noma has been very helpful in the past and is a great player
I think this was just an unfortunate situation

Above all he is an EXCELLENT player. I am about as NOT pay for presets for Fractal as you are going to get simply because it's just drop a few blocks in the chain and go ime. Oddball or song specific effects sounds? Sure. Good amp tones difficult to get? No.

I have wonderful advice for anyone, in any field, putting forth information only for the information to be dismissed, ignored, set aside, disregarded or tabled for another date-

Document it as an “I told you so” and move on with life.

We have zero control over how information will be received, nor do we know what else is involved with the information that may make someone’s acceptance of said information different than what we expect it to be. Even when it seems remarkably obvious on a personal level.

Learning this and adapting my daily life around knowing this was an actual game changer in my life. The amount of stress it removed while freeing up an immense amount of time to do shit I actually want to do was life changing. Even when I have to clean up the mess that would have been prevented by listening to me.

Unless someone’s life or safety is on the line, it’s not that important.

I was off yesterday. I'm chiming in It's a no win situation. Provide the product that gets the attention and seemingly endless updates for a decade+ and people will want it all, 24x7.

That type of post definitely has me scratching my head when there is absolute dreck out in modeling land that get's shat upon the world then get's a big fat nothing after the fact and somehow we're crying tears because there isn't this distortion pedal model or that chorus model. God forbid you try using one of the 493 other options that are already in the box


There are also endless different versions of this same phenomenon. "CAN YOUE ADD THE MARSHALL STYLE AMBP THAT'S COMING OUT IN 2030?"

It's hard not being the Fractal Police sometimes and I wouldn't say I am anywhere near the worst offender

In fairness, I do think it would be cool to have some sort of documentation of what the typical ranges of knobs on the actual pedals are, at least in some cases. A lot of popular chorus and flanger settings are basically “all knobs at noon” or “rate and depth knobs mirrored” etc, and it’s not always easy to translate that to the wider ranges available on the models. That’s something that can be done on the wiki though. And of course people can use their ears too.
