Fractal Talk

Im assuming you posted this on the FAS forum thread as well?

Nice work!
Yeah I also shared there as some guys at that forum are following along. I mean, it was Cliff who noticed the resistors being in the amp and not the schematic, but I think it's proved beyond any doubt that Cliff's amp is not the correct circuit and the current model does not represent what the real amp is.

Hopefully now it's not a problem to have it fixed, the amp makes way more sense to use when the tone stack is as intended.

I agree but I still there is a significant chance Cliff doesn't change it, unfortunately

Even if this amp did not have the 47K resistors that's not enough evidence for me to change the models. We need information from Marshall as to when they incorporated this change and how many amps were made with it. The models need to reflect the majority of amps in the field.

The question is whether our reference amp is incorrect or did Marshall start putting those resistors in there at some point.
Cliff has understandably said that he can’t change the model without verifying what most JVM amps in the world have.

I think it’s been proved beyond any kind of doubt now what the proper circuit should be, and on top of that there isn’t anything out there (besides Cliff’s own amp) to suggest otherwise. There was a presumption that the circuit may have been revised at some point, but we know that is not the case. I’d honestly be surprised if it is left alone, but it’s obviously Cliffs decision to make.

I thought you knew what an actual JVM sounds like? 👀

I live around the corner from Marshall, Joanna has debited my bank card for years. Anyone who’s dropped an amp in for a service has probably met her or Lee, or if you’re lucky, Dave.
I was just trying to rile you up :grin I don't know the true sound but oddly enough; got the day about to give your adjusted settings a go in my III :satan

I think Santiago comments kind of sealed the deal really IMO
It was his design and He worked there at the time

With gapless switching it’s pretty easy to break down the kitchen sink presets into two or three manageable ones.
Sure, but it's a PITA to redo the show computers to take advantage of me splitting up my show preset.

My hope is that further CPU optimizations will get the gapless scene switching back up to speed at legal CPU levels (mine slowed to a couple of seconds per change while showing 78% CPU under 10b, while with 9.3b it'll work fine to 81% - 82% CPU +-, though it typically runs around 75%). Note also that I don't have any reverb in my show preset, but do have a compressor which I down-graded to JFET Pedal, and still had the slow scene changes from DIN MIDI, Editor USB, and the FP with the Editor off and USB unplugged).

I think there's a great chance that they can improve this aspect before release!
