Fractal Talk

Auto audition works for me but i have this weird issue where I audition IRs, find one I like and add it to the cab block but once its added it sounds different than it did in the audition.

That makes me wonder if it's because of different settings in the rest of that block, like smoothing, IR length trim, high and low cuts, preamp modeling, etc. Maybe the audition function bypasses those parameters, but when you actually placed it in the block, you hear it altered by those settings. Just a guess.

I’ve got a patch that needs a different lead tone and I’m not gonna have much time to dial it in, so I’m looking for some advice.

The patch uses 3 main amp sounds: the clean channel of the dumble with the master and gain up so that it’s basically a crunch sound, the dumble drive channel, and a plexi. I have a high gain lead sound in it that I think is the SLO, but it just isn’t right the eq is too different from the other sounds which is where I’m spending 95% of the time.

I was using the dumble drive channel pushed by one of the exotic drive models for leads, but it’s not really enough gain for what I’m looking for. I’m using the ev dynacab.

I’m thinking that I need a Mesa mark style thing to give me a similar vibe to what that dumble drive sound has going but with more gain. There’s so many of those types of models though, and I’m not super educated on them. For what I’m describing, what are one or two specific models that I should focus on?

I’m gonna fly into town, grab my rig, and have like 30 minutes to get something sorted on this. Im not getting enough practice, so basically I need more gain to get through this gig to make up for the fact that my playing isn’t as clean as it should be…

I went from an FM3 to an AxeFXIII in about a month.

I made it to about six months, give or take. Brock doesn't realize it yet, but the Axe FX clock is already counting down...

Anybody facing issues streaming audio from your Macbook through the Axe Fx III? I know there's an ongoing issue with the FM3 and the latest Mac OS, but I'm facing the same issues as described for the FM3 but with my (not latest OS) Macbooks and the Axe Fx III. Axe Edit etc. works fine and the computer can see and communicate with the Axe, but audio isn't streaming at all.

I haven't had any noticeable issues, running a late 2024 MBP with an M4 Pro on the latest OS. But I did have a bitch of a time getting my Apollo Twin to work with it, and had to update my Native Instruments bundle on top of that. I'm still having issues with the Apollo not being recognized, so in a fit of frustration bought a Scarlett 2i2, even though the Axe FX works perfectly well as an interface.

Guys... i feel a FM9 turbo mark II itch coming on bad lol.

If i can sell my mint fm3 turbo mark II for like $850 usd, I think I'd have enough to buy one direct from fractal with the money i have left from selling some stuff and the money from fm3 once sold.

I really need 2 stereo fx loops at least and 2 amps/cabs after all to make what I want to work!

I could run boss vg-800 and gm-800 into one loop via stereo, and then zoia in the other loop (maybe other future pedals along with it) and then do spdif with vp4

Then I can have my 2 guitar models from the vg-800 in true stereo going into 2 different amps etc.. etc..

SHOULD I???
As a fellow gear addict and sometimes impulse buyer, PLEEEEEEASE read the fuck up on it to make sure it's actually what you want and need this time! :rofl

Ugh. I'm sorry you had to run into these issues. I agree it can be really agonising to go through. I have two Macbooks, an older 2017 (16GB RAM) one with Mojave (IIRC) and a 2023 (M3) one with 15.3 Sequoia, and both seem to have trouble playing back any audio. There's simply no situation in which either will playback anything!

This has only been happening since the 28.xx updates, and I did install and run all betas. But it does not happen every time, so need to find a path where this is reproduced.
As I mentioned in the previous post, there's no audio playback whatsoever for me, regardless of what I'm doing! It definitely is a 28.xx issue because it has never happened before this.

I had the FM3 foor a few years until the FM9 came out. Bought a used Axe-Fx 3 Mk2 for what the FM9 cost back then. Found out I didn’t really use its capabilities. The FM9 is the sweet spot, but much harder to justify in EU when you can find the Axe-Fx 3 for much less used.

I ended up with selling my first AxeFXIII to buying another Axe MKII Turbo and a FM3 MKII Turbo.

They are both excellent for sure. In retrospect I kinda wish I had the FM9 instead of the FM3 but the 9 is a lot larger so I dunno.

I knew that for my needs and budget the FM9 was the Option, still have it and no plans to sell it
It serves me well and It can do everything I want.

:beer

Well through all the excitement, i thought fm3 would be enough for me and it can still be enough but i forgot im using boss vg-800 dual guitar modelling unit as well and would like to stereo that into 2 different amps and cabs which the fm3 can't provide for me. I could just do it with the boss stock amps and cabs but i want the fractal ones lol and well... GAS got me and I took off and didn't think that I would be able to get fm9, but well here we are, so hopefully i can eventually and i don't have to wait too long!
