Fractal Talk

I've made the whole journey...Ultra then II, then FX8 then III, then FM3 and finally FM9.

I sold the II to get the III and sold the FM3 because I felt having the III and FM9 made it redundant but I kind of regret selling it. It's nice to have a smaller option with Fractal quality amp models and effects.

That’s why I kept mine as well. It has it’s uses.

Ironically I thought this today
Companies like Line6 etc are big companies with many designers
Fractal is kind of Cliff w obviously other devs but he is the main programmer
If products like AXE 3 are lasting 8 -10 years
It could be possible that AXE 4 could be the last one
I mean food for thought unless someone takes over at some point
And before someone says that a Negetive comment , I mean no disrespect
I just look at myself at 53 and know I don’t want to work forever

I knew myself well enough...

Just went for the big dog. Didn't want any chance of FOMO. And I could actually do everything I do on an FM3! Crazy, huh? (Well, most of us are, to some degree...)

I actually don't think Cliff will introduce a 4th gen. Maybe there'll be one, but I think we'll see a VA4 next, and have at least 2 more years with the III/9/3. IF they do a 4th gen, I believe it will be after Cliff is done, whatever form that will take. Whether he outright retires (not likely imo), or just steps back.
 
I've been back in this thread, reading about @BROCKSTAR and his Rollercoaster ride into the Fractalverse. It's been getting me curious again.

I can't help thinking about form factor though. I'm not into the big rack form but I don't want the brains on the floor. I don't really care about running two amps at once so a rational thought was controlling an FM3 with my Paint Audio MIDI Captain. Then came all the comments about FOMO for the bigger, more powerful units and how the FM3 was a gateway to them.

So, at 1:30am I stumbled upon a used Axe FX III on GC's website for a pretty good price and jumped with a 45 day return window to figure out if I want to keep it.

I've been a good boy, this is my first gear purchase of 2025 and I've wanted to try a FAS device since I heard about them over 10 years ago.

By buying used I hope I've saved enough money to purchase more hours in the day.
