Fractal Talk

But the behavior I described occurred after doing the following in FM3-Edit:
Settings>Manage Presets… then select all presets to update and right clicking to ‘Reset Amp Blocks’ of those selected presets. I did all mine (only had 4) and all the factory ones.
Well that’s expected behavior. Resetting the amp block will reset it back to the factory settings for that particular amp model.

Has the Deluxe Reverb Vibrato Channel Phase Inverter been fixed in this Release (?)

Cant see it mentioned (?) in the release notes although Cliff said a few days ago it would be fixed in next release (?)

Did what? Relaunch an amplifier brand that most people have never even heard of?
I know right?

Just jumped from fw6 (i know… have been patient for a couple of upgrades) but i dunno.. everything feels somewhat dull with less clarity. Perhaps placebo… or i need to reset the amp blocks?? Anyone with me?

It automatically resets things in the amp blocks but if you made changes to those parameters it can sound different
Also it is possible the settings you had just don’t work w this firmware if we are talking “personal presets

If something sounds off I would reset the amp blocks
Here is A really good video on it

It is "duller". More mid thump content, less sharpness. All in the name of accuracy. For some of my presets, I've changed the IR altogether to reshape the sound, some I had to choose a different SIC. Other places I've looked are negative feedback, master excursion and sag. Some amps needed very little, some amps are no longer my thing. On the positive side, the JMP-OD-1 has really got my attention now.

Good video for sure. I fumbled through and ended up doing what he describes in this video, but it would have saved me some time and aggravation had I seen this before doing the update.

For fucks sake. People are STILL confused about whether or not they have to reset the Amp block after updating to Firmware 8.0! Somebody PLEASE make it stop!

so sorry to ruin your day with my stupid post, as I rather play and not worry about every god damn FW upgrades every now and then. so sorry not being technical up to your level. I will stop asking stupid questions here.

It's not in the release notes because the error only ever existed in the beta release. The release notes of an actual firmware release only describe changes from the previous actual firmware. Make sense?

(and to cut off any additional questions, because the DR vibrato channel phase inverter was NOT fat fingered in the last official firmware release, and because there is no mention about a change to the DR vibrato channel phase inverter in these release notes, one can presume that this firmware release has the correct value for the phase inverter. My ears certainly tell me it has been corrected as compared to the beta).

But what if I don't want my presets to sound any different, but I want them to sound better with the new modeling algorithms, but not different, and I've never touched a gotdamn deep parameter in my life, how do I make sure I get the New Modeling to make my presets sound better, but also making sure they don't sound different?

And you assumed my post was about you?

Newsflash! It wasn’t!
