Out of curiosity, has there been any official word from Fractal on what their license transfer policy is?
That's often how it's done, yes, but my question was about an official response from Fractal, since it's ultimately up to them.I presume it's going to be done through iLok, yes? In which it's just local activating/deactivating through the iLok app between computers, and a selling fee of $25 if you're transferring it to someone else.
Someone started a thread on TOP about this and apparently in the EULA it says it's non-transferable.Out of curiosity, has there been any official word from Fractal on what their license transfer policy is?
That just means that you're not entitled to transfer the license yourself. Almost all EULA's have that. Most companies have a policy about doing the transfer for you for a fee, but it's usually an explicit policy that they make publicly known. Not a big deal, but I would expect Fractal to have a ready answer to a question like that.Someone started a thread on TOP about this and apparently in the EULA it says it's non-transferable.
I see, hopefully they can clarify. Not that I'm that worried about it, but it is something to consider. If you buy the hardware, you can easily re-sell it. If you just buy one or two packs, maybe it's not that big of a deal, but if you buy a bunch of collections, it could potentially start to get into hardware territory cost wise and then not having any resale value might start to be a concern. That just means that you're not entitled to transfer the license yourself. It all comes back to - can people have a laugh? If they can't... then your e-hotel is gonna suck.
I had a good laugh reading that TOP thread last night. My first thought was…. You guys sell and trade licenses? You don’t just buy plugins and have a library of shame, wow![]()
I have to return some video tapes.......Don't trust anyone who doesn't have a library of shame
Unfortunately there are a lot of unhappy people in the world. Some of them use the internet to vent their frustration by attacking other people or entities.
There have always been people like this, sociopaths if you will. The internet has given them the means to lash out on a much wider swath.
Me, I'm just happy to be alive. One day you think you're staring death in the face and then fate kicks him to the curb. Count your blessings and be happy for what you have.

I’ve bought licenses off other people but I don’t think I’ve ever sold one. Totally get that I might be the anomaly here but it’s a weird thing to spam pages and pages on.
To be honest with you, it's not something that I would have thought of. I didn't even realize it's something people did. I don't have a ton of experience with them though.Yeah, I get not all plugins are cheap, but I’ve never really thought of, nor desired to go through the effort of selling a plugin.
I’ve bought some stuff off of knobcloud. If I ever did it I’d use a site like thatTo be honest with you, it's not something that I would have thought of. I didn't even realize it's something people did. I don't have a ton of experience with them though.
The bassman always surprises me how crunchy (even perhaps high gain with the right pedal?) it can get
