Fractal ICONS Plugin

For recall of an amp when using a Fractal hardware, just create a midi track for every project.that transmits the require midi PC/CC to the Axe FXIII.

If the plugin aas cheaper, it might have been a good choice for even Axe FX bardware owners, but $500 is really pushing it for a plugin that you ha e to keep adding to.

But that's just my point of view.

Having never played the majority of Fender amps IRL, I was quite surprised with how much dirt is on them. I just figured everything was a high-headroom deal minus the Bassman, which I also didn't think got as dirty as it did. Totally blew my mind how much dirt you can get, especially hitting the input harder, and usable dirt, not the flubby shit.
Take a Deluxe Reverb. Gain on 10, Treble on 10, Bass at 0. Nasty.

So far they're all sounding great, but the Tweed and BF Bassmans will get extra love from me. TW bassman cleans are always :chef, the BF overdriven is :guiness. Even in Helix, the Dripman is my favorite amp for lead tones. I do wish we had a bit more cabinet selection in ICONS, I really think that portion should be decked out. In the AM4, I have an EC champ maxed out with a Solo100 cab and some graphic eq that sounds huge.

Brown Deluxe is my fave Marshall :-)

Yeah. IRL you kind of need to crank a Deluxe Reverb before you get through the razor wire. They are often too loud to gig at that point these days though.

After having a more recent DRRI that stabbed my ears with piercing high end, my knee-jerk is to cover my ears and brace for impact, but I'll give this a shot at 50dB through studio monitors later. :rofl

Fender treble can be spikey...if the volume is too low. The key is the crank the treble and the volume to both be in the 6-10 range.

As it stands, the Fullerton plugin has analog mono/stereo, and digital mono/stereo. From these options, I’m curious what existing Fractal algos people prefer to use with Fender style amps?

I didn’t even buy UA Paradise because I didn’t feel like it offered me much that I don’t already have, but I think their included FX offering is a bit better rounded - you get essentially a full Lexicon 224, EMT 140 plate, Fender style springs and another digital reverb on top. The delays have an EP3, memory man, digital delay and pitch delay.

The offerings in ICON are a bit too thin for me to even really think of using them - I’m just instantly going to go to another plugin that covers more territory, or straight to a specific effect. I think rather than the two most “generic” options, I’d have preferred things leaned towards emulating specific HW models, like the rest of the plugin does.

From the list of delays, I guess I’d like DM-2/DMM, one of the tape delays (something with multiple heads and deeper options would be better), and maybe vintage digital/2290/reverse, or something a bit curveball.

Besides the «basic» mono/stereo analog/digital delays, I tend to turn to the mono/stereo tape. Or dmm or 2290. Lately I’ve also been playing around with the surround delay.

Not having a tape delay is a big omission imo. Works with the amps in questions and is a primary delay type. And the FAS one is so good, particularly when you have access to all the modulation and deep settings.

After that, a DMM would be sweet as a character delay. (Which is what the delay/reverb offerings are missing, a couple things that are quirky/unique/ambient etc)
