Fractal Audio Systems VP4 - Virtual Pedalboard

If it’s not hard wired the no not even then .
The thing for me that matters most is what happens to the dry signal. If it changes I can only use it parallel on kill dry.

In the imaginary world where I’m building my new completely unnecessary rig… the VP4 may be in parallel for wet time based stuff only for precisely this reason. Although that would preclude me from using the trem and rotaries which I really like at times, so maybe I’ll come up with another idea or just deal with the non ADT downsides…

I did some tests (not enough) with my home setup, which isn't exactly ideal for testing: guitar>amp>reactive load IR>VP4>audio interface and I find that there's a slight change in the dry signal's tone (mainly a cut in the high frequencies).
At this point I find it very slight and not enough for me to care or want a parallel mixer, and much much better than the H90.
Still need to test it at proper band volume and through my cabs.

Analogue trems and roteries are night and day better than anything digital that I have ever heard to the extent that I would only use them in a fully digital environment.

The H90 sucks, I sent it back. The trouble is the bit you loose is that magical 3D dynamic edge that cost so much in the first place.🤣

It’s more that I was trying to keep the size and expense of the imaginary board down… that might not pan out though.

It’s still a pretty compelling unit to me just for delay and reverb though.

When you say analog rotary, are you referring to just hauling a Leslie around or is there an analog pedal that is good?

rotosphere was good enough for Charlie Hunter

I thought that was a univibe clone?

It might be. I only listen to these things when I need it for something specific. I hardly ever use one.

So maybe saying that it’s night and day better than the fractal rotary block as a rotating speaker simulator was a bit overblown? I’ve yet to hear a univibe that sounded like a Leslie, unless you consider anything somewhat warbly as “good enough” which I don’t. My favorite part of the Leslie sound is when it’s ramping up or braking down and you can’t get that from any univibe that I know of.
