EVH 5150 iconic owners.. Beware!

Your frustration is understandable. I truly mean that. But do yourself a favor and just drop the amp off and proceed with the warranty process. It'll be annoying in the short term but in the long term you'll look back and realize it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things.

In the meantime, while that amp is getting repaired, let's figure out another amp for you to buy. We excel at spending other people's money around these parts. 🙂
HAHA, Im sure you do. I appreciate the offer but I have 2 50w Plexis coming back from a complete rewire this week, 1 100w slp and a Carvin X100b.. But if i ran across a Blackstar or Soldano ya never know, I bought the Iconic to win an argument and prove a point. although thinking about it now.. It might have been less aggravating to have just given the guy $1k;;;;... I spoke with the authorized shop and after... calmly explaining that I replaced the tubes he cut me off and said that voids the warranty, I have to reach out to Fender again.. so I'm with Pissedplexi... LOCK N LOAD lol.
Welcome! :beer

Would you like some pickles with your beef? If yes - sweet or dill?

OP and I have been chewing on this happenstance on another forum. I bought mine in 2021 and mine has that yellow adhesive too. It oozed onto resisters around the area it’s in. My Iconic is way past the 2 yr warranty period and it’s still running healthy for now. Until the glue of death poisons the board.

When mine fails I’m gonna shoot it with a scatter gun. Chew it up good. I’ll pull the transformers to save shipping weight. Send it back to EVH Fender for the visual and a thank you for lending the amp to me for $1K. It’s been 4yrs now. The longer it lasts, the more I’ll feel I got a good deal.

This. It's infuriating. I get it. But don't make decisions out of anger.
Take the amp to the service center and don't even think about it, use other amps in the meantime. Then decide what to do
Yea, I know all to well about angry decisions, I once through a JCM800 head in a pool..... Thankfully it was pre-youtube or I'd still be hearing about
the "Great JCM800 fire of 91"

Imagine having it that changing tubes = void warranty. Lmao. Who the fuck is going to take it to a shop every time just to do something like change tubes? What a crock of bullshit and a lazy way out to avoid having to pay for warranty work by the manufacturer.

Yea it's a load of BS..... I never heard that before, that's like voiding the warranty on a new Challenger with a bad transmission for changing a flat --tire. I'm gonna take the board out and remove the caps, this stuff is like stone... getting the glue off is gonna be a bitch, 99% alcohol and lighter fluid did nothing... I did put a piece of dry ice on it and broke a chunk off, maybe with the board out and caps out of the way it won't be as bad....
I'm fussy with tubes, I change tubes every few months, if I had to go to a shop everytime I wanted/needed new tubes I'd go broke.....
