Everyone is excited about Portnoy being back, but….

Really, Images and Words, and Awake are two of the finest Prog rock/metal albums ever done in the modern age, and cannot be topped, not even by DT themselves.

Furthermore, the five song run of Erotomania to Lie is some of the best album sequencing ever done, period. It’s a concept album perhaps not in story, but in mood and emotion.

We shall see how this reunion plays out, fellow DT nerds. We. Shall. See.

I was knee deep in funky, groove jam music at the time... so DT was a bit off my radar.

I’m old. I was young, hip and vital in 1995, had already gotten through my metal phase, and went straight on to my cork sniffing prog phase.

Images and Awake are top heap for sure. Is Scarred after Lie? I’d say 6 song run. And then, heck, Space Dye Vest after that, right?

Well, no one knows what the agreement was either. Was he fired? Or was he told this wasn’t forever?
I think them canning Derek Sherinian was more BS. Never mind that I’d rather listen to Sherinian any day of the week than Ragtime Rudess.
