I got a chuckle out of him opening with Paradigm Shift. Coincidentally, around the same time as this clinic, I caught Mike Portnoy at a local drum clinic where he played Paradigm Shift using the stems, but sans-drums.

So that "banger", TSMI, how does that "calypso" piano break sound to you now? (I love it! And it's not ragtime. )

Hmmmm.......

I am less triggered by it than I was initially.

I love the transition out of it, though---that is tight!

I can't get my Trem Arm tight enough to do them warbles. Kind of realizing
that sucker need to be in there with ZERO play or slop. Otherwise, the warble
just whimpers and peters out too soon.

Yeah, even after many spins, it's still too abrupt, and weird, of a change. BUT I STILL DIG IT!!

Plus, a bad chorus on this album still beats most anything off of The Astonishing.
