Dream Theater Megathread NEW SONG POSTED!!!!!

Mike loves his movies.

In either one of my listens to Scenes From a Memory, or watching The Green Mile, I recognized a scream used in both.

It's from the movie scene where Hanks is reading the court papers out on the bleachers, early in the movie, and they flashback to the farmhouse where the wife screams when she discovers her daughters missing.

It's this scream:

Your scream knowledge is impressive! :banana

What if the members of DT heard you when you hurt your heel and are all talking to each other, "yeah, that's one of our biggest fans when he hurt himself recently!". :idk

Ok, I must be in weird mode today. Must be Friday bishez! :pickle

I have always had an awesome ear.

Remember when the key ignition on cars had a spot where you could rotate the key backwards, and listen to the radio?
Well, on those ignitions, if you left the radio on from the day before, when you turned the key to start the car, the key would pass the "on" position, and you'd hear just that tiny blip of the radio for a split second.

I could ID what song was playing, as an 8 yo kid being driven to school by my mother, every time.

What do I win? :rofl

Excited about Mike coming back? And welcome...
Thank you!

I think this will be interesting. NEVER thought it would last as long as it did. But it will be interesting to see if there is a "rejuvenating" of the band. Not that they needed one, but they were getting old enough to consider winding down and if nothing else, this might give a second wind of sorts. Guess we'll see.

Yeah, I think I would have been better off not reading Mike’s comments on the new music, because “Taking off where we were when I quit the band because I was fucking sick of it” wasn’t exactly giving me “HELL YEAH!” vibes.

I read some but didn't see the comments about when he left. I do remember what he said at the time though, which was that he needed a break. John said "we aren't taking a break" and hired another drummer and MP actually was surprised by it (per his comments). I bet he never EVER though he'd be out of the band as long as he was though. Even 5 years ago he was quoted saying things about how he didn't want to be "out" he just wanted a break and he couldn't believe he was still out.

JP lives in Manhattan though. And you know what they say, you got to feed the chickens. And feeding the chickens costs more in Manhattan. a 4-5 year break wasn't in his plans.

I am glad Mike left, because he made a lot of great music with a
bunch of different bands. :chef Meanwhile, the DT material created in
his absence didn't blow anyone away. In fact, a few of the releases
might be categorized as less than stellar. :idk

I don't disagree, but they were becoming hit and miss for me before MP left. Half assed Cookie monster vocals that sounded more like Grover... And the songs were becoming too compartmentalized for me. Here's our Muse song, here's our U2 song, instead of winding those elements through the album like they did earlier on. So i hope that shit doesn't return...
