Andertons had a good setup where they brought a small stand with a SM57 hooked up to I think an Xvive wireless system. Seemed perfect for recording amps while keeping them at low volume. It would do amp companies allowing demos at NAMM to mic the cab with their mic/position of choice and just hand the interviewers an XLR. Doug's own tones in that vid aren't exactly making me curious to know more about a Blackstar.

Agree that the camera mics aren't exactly the best.
But it sounds even worse in that second video where it's using the cab rig.![]()
You have to remember that a lot of YouTubers likely come in with just a smartphone and that's it.I mean the manufacturer’s spending a whopping 20 minutes to find the right position on a cab with a mic of their choice that’s best going to display what the amp sounds like as they intend it, instead of leaving it up to GearTubers to just stick a mic, no matter how great of a mic/setup it is, in front of a cab without knowing anything about the amp first.
That way whatever audio the ‘tubers get is already in line with the manufacturer’s idea of how the amp is ‘supposed’ to sound. The random 57 shoved anywhere around the speaker is like picking a random IR and hoping for the best.
The 100 watt St. James that just came out is $1899 so I am assuming this will be astronomically expensive. Some good sounds in the clips? That tolex color is a big nope for me.
I like the looks of the St James 4x12Here in italy is listed 1529€. The stock HT 100 is 969

Sounds pretty good here.
I'm mildly interested depending on price.
DSL100HR is $830, and a far better sounding amp. It’s also actually a tube amp, not a hybrid. The Peavey 6505 is like $1400, and that would be a better amp too.$1499. A complete and utter steal on today's market.
Here come the player-haters in 3.... 2.... and....
I am not exactly wowed that this is the HTStage 100MKII platform
with a tweaked/modded PCB they added onto it.
Still a nice option for the "Can't afford a $3500 tube amp" crowd.![]()
