Does anyone buy the Mark Series Mesa Boogies for the Clean sound?

The clean on the Mark V:35 is divine. It's everything a clean sound should be. Crystal clear, punchy, no treble ice pick...just amazing. Is it just me? Do most just go for the chugga?

Last real amp I was using has been a MKIV. At first I ran it in 4CM but then "downgraded" and only used the clean channel. Best clean pedal platform ever IMO.

Yes. I keep my Mark V 25 around because of the clean & fat clean modes. I got rid of my fender princeton and deluxe reverb years ago because of the mark. To me, it is essentially fender cleans, but better.

I also almost never play the 2c or 4 modes. Extreme is much more open and articulate IMO.

I didn’t buy a Mark III for the cleans but they are some of my favorite cleans ever in an amp. It’s harder to get ideal cleans on the older mark series amps when trying to balance the shared knobs but if I’m just looking for cleans without needing the lead channel, man there are some great tones to be had. Great pedal platform too.

I bought a Mark V because it could do everything my IV could do but had a more versatile clean channel and modes and a usable R2 channel. Wouldn’t mind having another Mark in the stable sometime.

I used a Deluxe Reverb as a pedal platform for over a decade. I sold it two weeks after grabbing my Mark IV. :

I wonder sometimes if the Lonestar was retired because they basically evolved the Dual Rectifier into a combination Recto/Lonestar. The Recto cleans since about 2009 have been awesome.

Gotta put my word in for Electra Dyne cleans, too. They are legit stunning.

I’ve never played a Mesa that didn’t have nice cleans really, even the Stiletto. But the Dyne’s are exceptional, in my experience.
