Does anyone actually want these super tiny modelers?

I use a ToneX One for a tube power amp sim with the tube preamps in my FM3's FX Loop, works great as I have three different tube power amp captures easily available via the HW, 6L6, EL34, and EL84 tube power amps, with level, gain, and BMT all easily available, and I really only touch the treble to somewhat mimic a presence control.

I think the micro pedals can work great for specific tasks, maybe not so well for full amp sims with FX etc.

I wouldn't call them "modelers" even, more like capture/profile players with added EQ controls. And no I don't have any interest in this tech.

Unless we are talking about the Helix/Ampero stomp then yes, it's cool.

I get that some guys want control of everything but in my case, it just gets in the way. I used to have the rack gear that would do everything and found that I only ever used two patches and i could do it with a lot less gear than everyone else thought they needed.

I am the target audience for Tonex One.

That’s a cool idea.

I’ve been resisting getting a TONEX One for quite awhile. What it’s lacking for my uses is BT audio, which that new Valeton GP-5 seems to have. I’d like a stand-alone or end-of-pedalboard capture player to just practice and not get caught dialing stuff in. Removing just one cable for playback of audio is worth a lot to me.

And also I’m not sinking any more cash into IK Multimedia. Paid a lot for their crappy stock captures and messy UX when the sw was released, plus the iPhone and iPad apps for Tonex are a missed opportunity. I’d rather support an open format if possible as well when it comes to captures.

The power amp capture thing mentioned sounds neat though! I’ve been thinking a long time of getting a nice preamp and running a digital power amp sim somehow. Might check that out.

At most I’d consider an FM3 for a smaller modeling unit, but between my FM9/amps/pedals, there’s nothing I’m looking to change outside of adding more amps. I’ve had a 3’ pedalboard for 20 of my 25 years gigging, sometimes it’s a pain in the ass, most of the time it isn’t.

I’m assuming you’re doing this because you turned off the on-board poweramp sim to run the FM3 into a real amp and cab and send a “proper” signal (with poweramp and IR) to FOH?

The old Vox Toinelab was very good in it's day, though now a dual-triode NuTube can faithfully mimic a starved plate 12AX7 like this old ToneLab, so technology marches on.
True but if it sounds good 10 yrs ago tubewise why wouldnt it still sound good? I still use mine snd it sounds good but yes doesnt have sll tje flair of newer tech

I'm not bothered by the form factor of ToneX One. I don't need a ton of models in it and I don't need the effects, so a basic 3 band EQ and a level knob is really all I care about, presence and depth are cool too. However, the major shortcoming of the ToneX One is the omission of MIDI and I would gladly give up that tiny size for a regular sized pedal that has at least a MIDI TRS jack.

Then buy the bigger Tonex pedal which has MIDI.

Sure, though the ToneLab was/is vintage amp modeling with the starved plate 12AX7, while the new VOX pedals have an all analog audio path with the NuTube dual-triode (plus additional solid state gain I imagine...), a totally different animal with no FX.

Those new vox smps should have a full array of effects onboard as that would sell more of them maybe
