Chronicles of a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50 combo

Now they want me to send it to Petaluma and they didn't provide the prepaid shipping label that was promised to me yesterday.

I responded explicitly asking for said promised shipping label. Now waiting for their response.

Estimated repair time of 4 to 6 weeks.

Fortunately it's not my only amp. I have plenty of options to keep me busy while the Fillmore gets squared away.
What did they find to be the problem? I have the same amp down to the color. I've been having tube issues since I purchased it from Melody Music. I've contacted Mesa and got new v1 and v2 pre amp tubes as well as new power tubes. Seemed to help for a bit. Now I get volume drops randomly. Still doesn't seem quite right. Thanks!

No internal issue with the Fillmore. It appears that a preamp tube cover/spring was damaging the preamp tube. The reason the issue was moving from tube to tube was because I did not reinstall the covers to the same position when I was testing / replacing the tubes after encountering a failure.

They replaced the questionable cover and damaged tube. I have had zero issues since.

The Fillmore is one of those unusual pieces of gear that just works - no matter what project I use it on, no matter which speaker cab is connected, no matter which guitar I play.

Replacing the stock12AX7s with NOS JAN-GEs took it up a notch. It wasn't an 'OMG-the-difference-hit-me-in-the-face' improvement; it was more nuanced, but definitely made the amp more of a long-termer whose sound I haven't tired of.

When I ordered this one I was trying to recapture the look of my first-year Tremoverb, so I got the leather/white piping. For custom Mesa livery it looks boring, but that explains my thinking.

I had a Fillmore 50 in red tolex. I didn’t like the lead channels at all, but the clean channel was a good pedal platform.
I didn’t keep it too long. When I look at my old video I made of it sounded pretty damn good with my pedal board.
So the video is the Fillmore 50 thru a Suhr 4x12 w/ v-30s, using my old pedalboard.

That's some pretty tasty playing! Sounds really good, too.

Thanks! I didn't realize how good the pedals sounded into the clean channel. It sounded huge out of the 4x12. I should have bought the head version.
Yeah, they sound really great!

One of the other amps here is a Lone Star 100 2x12 combo, and I always say I should have bought the head version. Oh well!
