Brent Hinds no longer in Mastodon

...and on a related to this gig front; there's supposedly a class action suit circulating on social media with a lawyer soliciting disappointed Tool fans because there wasn't enough variation in the setlists from one night to the next.

The law firm of Reddit And Dipshit have been at it for a couple days now. Lots of outstanding discovery-

“The promotion stated “unique” sets”

“Define unique”

“being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.”

“SOURCE?!?!?!?!”

While I understand the sentiment behind "NEVER CHANGE MEMBERS"; it just isn't that simple. And you also shouldn't expect the rest of the people sticking around, who busted their butts; to just dump everything and start from scratch because one person suddenly goes AWOL for whatever reason. Let the people decide with their wallets.

Yup. The gatekeeping of so-called fans is something I will never understand or fathom.

Who has more invested than the actual members? Duh! Do we believe in freedom or
not? Should other people cow-tow to our expectations because we tossed a few $$
for a show or album, T-shirt, or Hoodie. Is that $$ spent by us also part of a binding
agreement where the artists have to check with us before every decision they make
going forward? WTF?!! :facepalm

I sure as fuck ain't pissing on people who are doing things I would love to do myself.
But here's the world we got, and that gatekeeping nonsense (in my view) ain't going
anywhere. :idk

Yep. I will say I always reserve the right to be opinionated AF AFTER the fact when you see the efforts out forth and just don't like it. But even then; I still try to give credit where it's due. Usually :bag

I'm not sure if I've even listened to albums post once more round the sun :sofa

Remission-Crack the Skye are some of my all time favorites though. CtS took a bit for me since it was such a departure but its a prog masterpiece
Remission, Blood Mountain, Leviathan, Crack The Skye, and that weird Jonah Hex soundtrack they did... those are some of my all time favourite albums. Emperor of Sand also has some cracking tunes on it.

Despite boomer pisstaking earlier, they're one of my favourite bands.

I think Bill has really been coming into his own over the last few albums. I part wonder if Brent lost a bit of enthusiasm for it because of that, but who the fuck knows.

I stopped really caring about Mastodon after Remission and I have to say, the worst band I ever saw live was Mastodon. HOWEVER, I would go see them just to see Uncle Ben.

He might have had an aneurysm due to the $4k ticket prices for the Firefly 2.0 Gig
this past weekend. Given the band's roots I can see how that may have happened. :idk

And I agree with you, in spirit, that there legacy acts (not Mastodon, though, imo)
that are the musical equivalents of Google, Wal Mart, and BP collecting their handsome
checks while new acts can hardly crack the sky and get a foot in the door.

Seeeee... I knew we'd get there!!

Oh man! My love is unconditional. You knew that, right? :beer

But yeah, when you do a Tech Bro, All Inclusive Resort Show at
those prices, then some of your Street Cred may be up for debate.
Not even a Ben Eller can squash that bug.

Worst band I ever saw live was Clutch. Fucking hell, I still want my money back 15 years later.
The one and only time I saw Clutch was on the Sounds of the Underground tour back in 2005 (I think). I can’t remember which band proceeded them but I remember these guys coming out setting up the gear, sound checking and then they start playing a song. I think, “that’s weird that they’re letting the roadies play” but kinda cool I guess. Anyway, they keep going and next thing you know, there done and start packing up.

I’m like what the fuck, why did the roadies get a set and then someone else in the crowd said those weren’t roadies, that was Clutch. Ultimately, the most memorable part of their set was I thought it was the crew.

That's pretty fucking funny I have to say. :rofl

Never seen Clutch but by all accounts, recs, and on paper I should love them

Every time I put them on though I can barely make it through a whole song though :idk
