Boss Pedalboard

I've been talking about this for a while and pulled the trigger on my "last" pieces to put together an all Boss pedalboard:

I got the CE-2W and DM-2W from Achilles (RIP) last summer and those were the first Boss pedals I've had in probably 25+ years. Picked up the IR-2 as my two-channel amp sim. And decided to finish off with a couple more basics/essentials, the TU-3 tuner and the RC-1 looper.

Going to throw it all on my D'Addario expandable board and use a good old OneSpot daisy chain. Nothing fancy. All of that will run through my Fender FR-12.

Goal is to have something simple for practicing. No menus, no stereo, no effects loops, just a basic little board to play some guitar.

Curious for the folks - have you ever done a Boss board, and what would be your five pedals if you were to build one?

That’s killer! I’d love to do one, BUT….I love phaser, and IMO only an MXR will do. Everything can easily be Boss though. They do the best chorus for sure, and the DM-2w, SDE-3, and all the current big boy stuff is great. I wish they’d revise the RV-6 with whatever they did to the RV-200, because the latter sounds even better.

Okay got it all hooked up.

I should have got a looper years ago! This thing is a lot of fun. Gotta work on the timing. But really inspiring.

Tuner works great! I like how stupid simple it is. Granted a strobostomp may be a smarter buy but this is a classic pedal that I should’ve picked up 30 years ago.

Also the whole thing can be powered off a daisy chain from the Blackstar Amped so you could run a rig into a speaker cab with all these pedals just off a single IE lead.

A little more time with the board and I really like the standalone looper pedal! For S&G I hooked up the HX Stomp as well as the Quad Cortex and the Boss RC-1 is just way better and easier to use. Same thing with the standalone tuner pedal, it seems a lot more solid and less twitchy than the integrated tuners in those pedals.

One other thing, the IR-2 is way easier to dial in running into the power amp and cab. I didn't bother yet with the FR-12, but running into the Amped and Orange 1x12, the Boss is warmer sounding and doesn't have the extended high end that needs to be pulled down of the other modelers. You can get the high end back by turning up the treble knob but at or just below noon it sounds really good.

I do think I'll need to get a Boss drive pedal next though. I flipped through a bunch of mine and I really like the Tumnus as a drive/boost. The classic Boss drive is an SD-1, but I have an MXR CBMOD which is supposed to be a hot rodded SD-1 and it sounds like ass. I'm kind of thinking of trying a Blues Driver?

I supposed all my pedals, modeler MDX, and amps. I've gone all software to save me space nowadays. I used to be the biggest Boss fanboy, and this thread is giving me GAS.

I would like a...

Boss TU-3 Tuner> Boss OD-3 (Overdrive)> Boss IR-2> Boss CH-1 Chorus> Boss SDE-3 Delay and/or Boss RE-2 Space Echo> Boss RV-6 Reverb> "FRFR" Cab

I like the Boss RE-2 Space Echo> Boss RV-6 Reverb combination because I like the ambient sounds possibilities in they create. I may put a looper in the ends, but it has to be a TC Ditto.

Working on this as well. Have the Crybaby and the CH1 already. (Pic below from Pedal Playground)

Yesterday I bought a used CH1 for 50 and now I am searching for a Boss "Standalone" Distortion for some rock distortion. I don't know if I'd like the DS1. Currently looking into a DS2 which would have the benefit of having 2 gain stages controllable per remote.

But first I guess I need a new TU3. My TU3 is with my band bc it's just accurate and sturdy and good and I can't play in a band without a good tuner.

Boss DS-2 on the way. Can't wait to see/hear how it sounds and behaves with my amp/guitars. Taking the TU3 from the rehearal place home tomorrow MK1 of my all Boss pedalboard is done. (Crybaby doesn't count)

Mine would be a CS-3 > SD-1 > BF-2 > CE-2 > some kind of delay, I have DD-200 so probably that or a DM-2 analog delay.

Back in the late 80's I had the OG BOSS BCB-6 with full compliment of pedals, including the PSM-5 Power Supply.

I currenty have the BOSS BC60, but it's more for storing the pedals that I'm not using than a working pedalboard.

Not a huge BOSS fan, but I'd go with HM-2, SD-1, OD-1, DS-1, BF-2, DD-2

I am a minimalist because I am both a singer and a guitarist. My board is all Boss.

TU-3 > MD-2 > SD-1

If I only played lead and had quick reflexes, I would add an OD-3, a DD-8 and a RV-6.

I am gonna get some hate, but when I tried both an OD-3 and a BD-2, I preferred the OD-3 inspite of having more Bass.

The sound is more "full" for the lack of a better word, and the gain knob on the OD-3 has more "range".

The BD-2 sounded crackly to me, but these things are only appearent while playing alone.

In a band scenario, I have seen many people use a BD-2 and they sounded really good. Specially turning the knob 70% and more made it sound like a fuzz.
