Boss GT-1000 (and possibly other things Boss...)

Lots of goofy shit in there like someone had 3/4 of an idea and implemented it, lol. I’m finding it to be pretty flexible in general once you figure out how things work, but there are some HUGE holes in the paperwork as far as using all the stuff.

Got the sonicake toppers i ordered recently, 20 pieces for just 5.49€ from china.
They fit pretty nice my core unit.

I like how they kind of make the light a bigger target.
Im sure its partially just honeymoon phase, but this thing is hella-capable and for the ridiculously low tuning I play in the X high gain amps are insanely clear sounding compared to anything in the HX models. IRs sound “off” to me (like power amp modeling only happens when you have stock cabs) but I haven’t really felt like I need them, either. But the X-Titan especially has an almost unnatural clarity and saturation in the low end that is kind of awesome. I can play big stack root-M6 intervals and hear both octaves clearly. I don’t know what exactly MDP is doing, but I think I like it. It’s definitely replacing the Helix LT for live use with one of my bands (as long as there aren’t stupid noise issues when we play in a couple of weeks).

Ok, this is soo weird. You can have gapless patchswitching, delay/verb trails and what not. But when you assign a simple FX block to a switch, there's a slight gap both when switching things on and off (at least in my master patch).

Oh no, hold on, it's even more weird: When I hold the switch down, there's actually silence and the effect is switched on release only. WTF? Can't do a momentary switch that way. And the gap is annoying, too.

Well, the weird behaviour has been caused by a cable, freshly soldered by yours truly. Tested it like a mad man after soldering and yet, all of a sudden it was broken - in a way that touching one of the upper switches caused it to go dead while pressing. User error of course - but what a weird one...

Well, this is some buggy shit. So far everything worked fine (or has been user error, see above). But now I just copied a patch and the damn thing decided to not activate a switch that is activated in the source patch. And no, there's no switches set to work globally.
FFS, they really need to get their UI act together.

Yet some more fucking nonsense: When I select the patch through the editor, everything is just fine! But when I select it on the unit, some things are just getting switched off!

And it's only doing this on my own patches, factory patches are fine. Looks as if I will have to redo all my patches and hope things will turn out better next time. Boss, you just suck!

Further examination: the Curnum switching is only happening when I copy the patches to patch numbers 4 and 5. When I copy it to any other patch numbers, things are fine.
Will now backup everything (takes ages because of Boss' idiocy of using MIDI), reset the device and see what's going on. I'm afraid I'll have to start out from scratch.

How are you "copying patches"? I NEVER do that with any platform as I just don't trust the process. I would just save the preset and select the new slot.

Fwiw, copying patches is the only way to make sure there's complete spillover. Unless you want to manually recreate the patch to the letter, which is barely possible.

Ok, I did a friggin factory reset and imported my "master" preset only. It's *exactly* the same.
Master preset on patch 1-1, fine.
Copied to patch 1-3, fine.
Copied to patch 1-4 or 1-5 = Curnum is active!

Fuck it!

You might have to take the hit and just double check the presets after copying and manually the fix the items you see.

I tried that, but there's no manual fixing. The patch is saved fine initially but when I switch to something else and then recall it, it's wrong. And in addition, the curnum switching is then active for "some" things.

Weird behavior for sure. I’m having too much fun with the input trigger. Got a pitch shift dropping an octave and the ring mod dropping frequency and it’s so much fun.
