Hi all,

I bought a DM-101 earlier this year and really like it apart from one little quirk that I hope someone knows how to resolve.
The pedal always powers up with the effect 'on' as opposed to 'off' like every other pedal on my board.
Does anyone know how to change this?

Also, tips on any good settings appreciated!
Thanks in advance :)

If this is like most other Boss pedals, then not without modding the circuit. It MIGHT be that this behavior varies from DM101 to DM101, as it is with some Boss pedals because of the nature of the flipflop circuit that controls the switching, but other Boss pedals (like their tuners) use a microcontroller to keep this behavior (or the opposite behavior in the case of the tuners) consistent, and it's possible that the DM101 is this way since it is digitally controlled anyway.

Your best bet is probably just to stick it in a loop. Luckily there are a lot of very inexpensive loop switcher pedals with one or two loops, and many of them can be totally passive (i.e. no need for a power supply unless you want an indicator light). EX, Sonicake, and JOYO make cheap (~35USD) ones that are sold on Amazon, eBay, etc, and small companies like Saturnworks make (potentially higher quality) ones you can buy direct or on Reverb for like 40 to 50USD. You can find all of these used for even cheaper too.
