How do you get 6th fret harmonics to pop out on a 99% stock plexi? (On Fire)Indeed. And the irony of it being a 99% stock plexi all the time.!
Put a Univox Uni-Drive UD-50 in front of it.How do you get 6th fret harmonics to pop out on a 99% stock plexi? (On Fire)
AahPut a Univox Uni-Drive UD-50 in front of it.
By playing it! Here's Jacop Deraps doing it with a cranked plexi clone.How do you get 6th fret harmonics to pop out on a 99% stock plexi? (On Fire)
FWIW I made a basically identically titled thread at RT a few years back with quite a few responses https://www.rig-talk.com/forum/threads/best-recorded-slo-100-tones.257020/
I bet Mike a uttered a few choice words when Peavey released the 5150![]()
Ehhh, he does love that Mk V though. Come to think of it, he's quite poly-gear-amorous.![]()

@norminal, What about Crystal Planet?
Crystal Planet 1998: Ibanez JS guitars, '58 Fender Esquire, '58 Fender Stratocaster, '58 Gibson Les Paul Jr., '84 Gibson Flying V, '83 Kramer Pacer, Wells amp, Marshall 6100, Roland JC-120, Peavey 5150 head, Gibson Lab Series combo, SansAmp rack and plug-in, Cry Baby wahs, Boss DS-1, DD-2, and CE-2 pedals, Fulltone Ultimate Octave, Digitech Whammy
More like who didn’t use themI am pretty sure I am good because of the "sizzle."

Mostly curious about who used them apart from EVH and Warren Haynes and Gary Moore.
You know, for purposes of future research and the like.![]()
2k$ in 1990 is about 5k$ in 2025, maybe Van Halen thought about the business side of things and didn't want to promote an unobtanium boutique amp. When the 5150 amp was released VH specifically said he wanted to be able to buy the amp in every music store in the world and not just for the rich, also, I'm sure he got a pretty penny from his deal with Peavey.I bet Mike a uttered a few choice words when Peavey released the 5150
I think you need to lower the dose.I dig the SLO, but the 5150 and Dual Rectifier are superior amps.
Check the threads I’ve made on the best tones for each of those amps. 5150 and Recto have been at the forefront of various new genres and countless massive albums. If that somehow makes them worse, then I’m all ears.I think you need to lower the dose.![]()
