Best Recorded and Live Soldano Tones

Eddie Van Halen and Michael Soldano's relationship was a significant one in the history of guitar amplification, with Eddie using Soldano amplifiers extensively and contributing to the development of the Soldano SLO-100. Eddie's involvement with Soldano led to the creation of amps like the 5150, which were influenced by the Soldano SLO-100

Did AI write that text? Eddie wasn't involved in developing the SLO at all.It had been available for a couple years already when Eddie first tried one :)

For me, I can't recall a single EVH tone in the 1990s that topped what Eddie coaxed out of Marshalls
in the 19070s and 80s.

Sorry, Eddie. :(

I'd love to know the changes in amp design and topology that differentiated a Soldano from a
Marshall. :idk
Agreed, some great tones on F.U.C.K and Balance still though. His tone went into the shitter with the 5150 III , he never sounded good with them.

This website describes exactly that, ifs such a good resource.

You can follow essentially how you get from a Fender Champ through to an SLO. The jump from a JCM800 to a Soldano isn’t that huge but there’s a few very key steps that make it distinctly different to what came before.

Ohhh.... Love it. Thanks, Ed! :beer

Eddie's involvement with Soldano led to the creation of Peavy /5150amps
Said Involment with Soldano led to the creation meaning He didt have any input on the Soldano but i bet he must have picked Soldano's Brains an Opened up a few of his amps, and said ok heres what i want next

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was replying specifically to the "and contributing to the development of the Soldano SLO-100." part, which isn't the case.

For me Fair Warning for DLR Era tones and for the Hagar Era its Def Balance, that W/D/W tone is something I love
So its a matter of preference

:guiness

Warren Haynes is usually the first person I think of when it comes to SLO

Mikey Houser (RIP) the original lead guitarist of Widespread Panic always rocked a SLO

WTF is that guy doing with a Bigsby equipped Les Paul.????? :barf

Mathias makes me want a Marshall, because all of the tones the Scorps
are most known for, and which he slayed on are with Marshalls.

This thread is just going to push me back home again. :beer
Dave you is a Marshall Man through and through

I bet Mike a uttered a few choice words when Peavey released the 5150 :bonk

That it's a Soldano? He used Peavey on a lot of that IIRC, pre-5150.
It's possible he used one on a few tracks though.

(pretty sure the peavey was a classic tube series based model)
