Axe-FX (A Love Story?) Rd.1

I’ll fire it back up in a minute (giving my ears a rest :ROFLMAO:) but it will tell me what to set it at based on the IR I load?

Hmmnn - not without DynaCab

But there is a list; also listen to the changes

You can also move the resonance points but I dont muck around here much. Cuz DynaCab…:beer

How kind I find out the impedance curve for the Friedman 412? (Note I’m using the York IRs of it not a dynacab or stock fractal cab)

If you don't know the exact match, just make an educated guess and see if you like it.

Here is a link to some notes on the Speaker Impedance curves list:

As Fretworn has said, the Dyna-Cabs choose these curves automatically, matching the power amp SIC to the impedance of the selected cab in Slot 1 of the Cab Block. But you need to choose the SICs manually with your own IRs.

I might need an FM9. Wish it had a mic preamp, but I can work around that.

No matter how many comparisons I listen to, the quality of Fractal’s modeling stands above everyone else. It’s the only one that consistently reproduces all the clarity and sparkle from upper harmonics that you get from a real amp. It also has the most dynamic low-end attack and depth, especially for high gain amps. Other modelers sound ok until you hear them side by side with Fractal—then the others start to sound like they’re trapped inside a cereal box.

What I’d really like is a Helix Floor with Helix UI and Fractal’s modeling. That would be the dream rig for me.

I went Helix>Kemper>Fractal. Totally converted now. The other two platforms sounded great initially,
but then I ran into struggles. Kemper is super compressed and too saggy for anything that needs
immediate attack. High gain was :barf Helix has this odd high-frequency plinkiness when using
gained up amps that I could never get rid of. And the Fender models never gave me the squish, sag,
and bloom I experience from actual Fender amps. :idk

The Fractal is as close as I have heard, and across all gain ranges with a variety of amps. You also
get the best customer support and ongoing updates of any of the platforms. No one else is really
even in the same ballpark in that regard.

Being a notoriously persnickety fella, I am constantly blown away by Fractal. :beer

It’s sure to happen someday. Maybe soon. Especially since there’s no waiting list for the FM9 anymore.
You go first Swirly. I'm a late bloomer and just starting to get comfortable with the Helix, y'all don't twist my arm into getting a FM3/9. :grin

The JCM800 Mod is one of my go-to's for any guitar, don't even need a dirt pedal or boost in front, that thing is perfect.

I pay zero attention to the brand or cab type when I pick impedance curves, I know it'd make more sense to do so, but that's totally a 'pick with your ears' thing since we have the ability. @Whizzinby, when you eventually plug this into a real cab, try messing with the impedance curves, it's a pretty interesting difference. It can be a facelift for the overall sound/direction/feel of the sound.

Blasted through two more columns.

More of the same, awesome Marshall smorgasbord… Brit Super, Studio, Silver. All excellent.

I accidentally went to the Carr Ambler (been trying to plow through the gainy stuff) and that thing has some real potential. Dialed in a pretty sweet dark and broody clean with a touch of grit. :chef

Das Metal, exactly what you expect. Cornfordbread 50 I actually liked most with Sat on for some reason, seemed to tighten it up nice.

I don’t know what the Class A 30w Hot model is but that thing caught me by surprise. Snappy, crisp. Badass. Out of right field on this one here, but very cool with some dialing in.

Surprise of these two column of amps… Cameron CCV. We will meet again. Some real tasty stuff here once you get the OD and gain levels dialed in. Very good stuff here.

Ears shot. No more guitar today. :ROFLMAO:

Big question, so is it better than the QC?
