Atomic Tonocracy (Inc NAM support)

11 minutes later.....

The ONLY time I have anything 'unpredictable' sounding with Tonoracy is when I accidentally highlight a 'wrong' block and drag or double-click a 'wrong' thing into it. . .i.e. I'm trying to change an AMP and I accidentally put it in the CAB, or DRIVE block, etc. Then I have to hit UNDO and re-do the process. Since I've been using loads of captures I've found on the net , in tonehunt , etc many are totally different volumes, so that's the only other issue I've had to deal with. Not sure if any of this helps you , but it seems very easy to use, other than the ability to put wrong things in wrong blocks NOT being blocked :) Good luck
Thanks for the reply Eric. Yeah thinking your loading an amp tonesnap into a boost location , in front of another high gain amp, is an audible oops moment very quickly.

My issue is resolved when I adjust output level. It's a slightly odd sound. It's not a show stopper, just an odd sensation I haven't noticed as much with other plugs, or modelling HW platforms.

Output levels always vary, it's just an odd version of that in Tonocracy for me. Having a low level dry signal sound with a high gain amp sound simultaneously will definitely ruin the chugs. It's mostly noticeable on the E string, but sometimes on the A string as well.

Turning up the output volume on the amp block seems to resolve it. I was just checking to see if I was blindly missing something.

Would anybody with better ears than mine fancy spending a few minutes trying some Tonocracy captures I made today and passing comment (positive/negative/both - I’m not sensitive!)?

They are of a couple of Jet City 22H’s that I have modded to JCM800, Plexi and VH4 Channel 4 type specs.

Also tried out capturing a Hayden Mofo 30 that I recently acquired.

I’m trying to improve my capturing technique/ears.

Yeah I've got no interest in sending shit to the cloud. that's the only way this works?
Currently, if you want to use the native tonesnap format but I think they should change that as well, particularly when/if the hardware comes out. You can do NAM offline of course. Nobody likes to be tied to the internet.

57 minutes later.

LE SIGH.

A less GAS afflicted person would be done with the idea of buying accompanying hardware by now, to be honest!

Sorry guys, I've been uploading a lot (100+) of captures to the cloud this evening. I've captured my Synergy Vai module into the Fryette Powerstation and a JMP 2203 powersection.

I'm almost through with my digital amp collection . Just have to capture my Peavey Rockmaster preamp, the Orange Rockerverb MKI and the Amplified Nation Bombshell Overdrive to complete it, but I'll spread that out over the next couple of months.

The cloud capturing takes usually around 15 minutes or so, but today is obviously an exception.

I will also release a high quality NAM capture assortment of my preamps without any poweramp coloration in the coming days. Started out this poweramp/preamp project before Tonocracy came out and now I want to finish it with 1500 epoch training per capture.

Nice! Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of good content from you, so thanks for this. Next up I am planning on looking at your CCV stuff

It was a mess making Folders, and getting files into the new folders.. I had to enlarge the window like this to be able to get files into the folder I made..wierd one!

:D

Have you planned any captures today? Might finish up the Vai project today and add some additional captures to the pack, though I could postpone this if you guys want to try Tonocracy's capture capabilites today?

I love to upload a bigger batch overnight and just use the captures the next day altogether.

I usually upload the captures in the evening here in Switzerland around 7pm-9pm CET or 1pm-3pm EST.

My uploads are certainly an exception, most guys will probably make 20-30 captures max and then the strain on the servers is unnoticeable.

I hope your Mesa Recto captures are done by now? How do you like them?

I discarded them because they sounded like undergained noisy shite.

My NAM captures tend to come out very close with the same setup, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong with Tonocracy. I'll figure it out.

Let me know what you think of the CCV set. I've used a more classical approach with this set, just captured some tones with different guitars that I liked as oppossed to the more meticulous sets where I really hone in on the powersection and the gain levels of a specific preamp EQ setting.

Damn :( The only thing I can think of is the calibration process. Have you calibrated your setup with a multimeter inside Tonocracy? What does your calibration table look like in the lower left window of the tonesnap mode?

From my own experience, the captures are very close to the real thing, but I've meticulously set my reamp output to 500mV with a 1kHz mono sine wave at approximately -15dB (I've used the calibration Excel file from @MirrorProfiles for this before Tonocracy came out). When Tonocracy dropped, I didn't have to change a thing, it was already in the ideal voltage range.

I'm using an Apollo X8 with a Hi-Z 1 max input level of +12.4dBu and all my three calibration levels are displaying a +12.4 dB value in the lower left section.

@2dor ! Saw some good uploads from you (NAM I think). Kudos.
Appreciate the feedback buddy! I went through several reamp chain iterations and I think I landed on a very good setup with insights from @MirrorProfiles on calibration etc.
I'm looking at doing a teaser Chupacabra 50 pack now.
I usually do most stuff for NAM & pin it up on Tonehunt (https://tonehunt.org/2dor) but I've pushed a couple of things into Tonocracy when I was trying it out.

You probably already know this, but just to spare you some painful moments: When you want to import NAM captures in one of your new folders, always make sure to click on that triangle so that it points down, only then will you be able to drop files into that folder. Otherwise, Tonocracy will import all those NAM captures into the superordinate "NAM" folder in your case.

This can be pretty painful as you then have to move or delete the imported captures one by one, so it's crucial to get it right the first time. It's one thing I don't like about Tonocracy and I've already talked to the their dev team about it.

I had downloaded loads of your stuff a few nights ago.. Molecular, KK, Salv Audio Meshuggah, etc. Many are the best hi-gain tones I could ever wish for. Some are too noisy for me (If I was using Tonocracy seriously) as with any Noise Gate setting I still get too many artifacts, or remnants of noise, or whatever, BUT tonewise they are the richest hi-gain imaginable. Love it and thanks so much for making them available

Not only does the Triangle need to be pointed down, when you drop the files you're loading, you need to make sure they go under the 1st letter of the folder name, not all the way to the left. If you drop them all the way to the left , again you need to move them 1 by 1 to the folder. I did this with 296 captures the other day and I'll never do it again! lol

Try running Bertom Denoiser the first thing in your chain and use these settings to being with. If it's too aggressive, Raise the "Threshold" slider a little bit (the one on the very left side).
