Atomic Tonocracy (Inc NAM support)

How do you have to scroll past your IRs to get to delays. I collapse my folders and it’s fine. Everything is there.
Because the list is always in view and always displaying absolutely everything. Yes you can collapse folders but it should still be more context dependent. The amount of redundant clicking should be something developers look to minimise.

I’m not fussed about seeing an amp model look like a real amp or not, I just care whether it’s well designed or not. Having or not having a photorealistic graphic of an amp doesn’t suddenly transform a plugin UI to good or bad. There’s good and bad examples of both. If you’re going to have amp graphics in the UI, at least make them worthwhile. Not really sure what you can disagree with there, all you do is tell me how it doesn’t bother you or you don’t care.

I know you don’t care and you have your own criteria on what you think makes a good amp sim. I think it’s valuable feedback for a developer to know as far as understanding what might make a suite of amp models something people want to spend money on (which, let’s face it, Tonocracy offers FAR too much to have to resort to making it completely free) and it being something that is being given away.

I think it’s a shame that this is where they’re at with it, and I hope they’re able to turn the ecosystem into something that doesn’t make everything so far a complete waste.

I.m.h.o ..... and probably just re-stating the bleeding obvious ...... there can be only 2 feasible reasons this is now being given away for free / refunded:-

(a) the Tonocracy "project" has folded and been deemed not worthwhile to continue developing and supporting

or

(b) a hardware pedal version is coming and they want (i) peoples good will and (ii) people to not pay for the same thing twice therefore pissing off potential buyers thereby letting them use their potential now-purchase money and refunded money to go towards the hardware pedal.

My 2c is on (b)

Back on topic to the actual sound of Tonocracy. I've been able to match most amps pretty close but I've struggled a bit with the Rectifier and I was wondering why. Graph police have arrived :cop

Blue line is a NAM model of my Rev G with a Recto OS cab as the load. Green is Tonocracy. Looks like the resonant peak of Tonocracy's rectifier is WAY lower than a 4x12 Rectifier cab, its resonant peak is at 77Hz or so, compared to 110Hz where you'd typically find a V30 closed back 4x12. Seems that several amps seem to have their resonant peak quite low, Rectifier's always expose this thing as the impedance curve is basically establishing the tone of the amp.

You don’t have to guess, they told you why already…

To me the looks don’t matter.
Make it sound right and I’m good.

Ask L6 about Helix Native vs Metalurgy
Totally agree. But when asking $150 bucks for a plug that looks half finished, well for most potential customers it's a deal breaker.

Chefs have to deal with this all the time. NO matter how amazing the Chef cooks, if the food looks like a rotten fish topped with dog poo, well.... you know the drill.

Like many other products on the market, the GUI for this looks like it was designed by a software engineer who happens to own a copy of Photoshop.

As a professional graphic designer, this is amateur at best.

I downloaded it, took about 12 hours to be able to sign in, and finally got it up and running. Running into my laptop through an EVO4, I downloaded a few NAM caps of Plexis, SLO100 and JCM800's. I lost about an hour and a half playing the NAM captures. THe Tonocracy ToneSnaps were alright. The models were...ok. But this is my first time using NAM caps, and holy shitballs. If they bring out a hardware solution that's capable of everything the software does and is supported, I'm gonna push my TONEX pedal to the side. Probably wouldn't displace my FM9. Maybe.

Yeah but the plug is now free and that conversation is then moot.

Well, I actually figured out that it does splits and pans but I have no idea how to add them manually. Tried dragging, right clicking to no avail. Splits aren't listed anywhere that I can see.
I used a factory preset and used that as a template.

Drag the cab new block you want to add right above the existing one. A grey bar will appear drop it there

Not if it’s basically the only real UI for the hardware, as has been the traditional approach with Atomic stuff?
Then complain for it when it happens.
I was using all day and have zero issues with the UI.
Maybe I either don’t understand what the issue is or my workflow is drastically different.

There has to be hardware coming. Otherwise, they won’t stay in business much longer giving away software for free.
yep.
Out with the old. What's strange is the Amplifire 6 is no longer part of their webpage store at all.
I'm sensing a v7 coming (The Chinese Tonocracy)
