Atomic Tonocracy (Inc NAM support)

I think we’ve shown on a few occasions since the product was launched about a month ago that we have been working to improve Tonocracy and have considered customers feedback.
Fair enough. In that case, I’ll take the consideration and hope it brings further improvements to the product.

Two wishes come to mind: running at 44.1 kHz (puts out loud static on my system so I have to use 48 kHz) and being able to multi-select items for deletion/dragging. I know you can move items and folders around, but I'd like to be able thin the herd easily so I don't have option paralysis.
And a third thing would be making the profile generation an offline option with the ability to share patches that contain your own captures as a file that is offline. I understand the "copyright" or creator rights of the cloud amps and patches, but when it's your own capture, be nice to share that or even have the option to monetize it independently. Thanks.

You may need to check your email. A response was sent to you at 6:36 PM EST last night - 4 minutes after your last comment. No further communication from you after that.

We hear the feedback from you and others in this thread. Thank you for sharing. It is considered.
I received two emails total. The first at 5:44pm est, you said this was the first/only report of this problem and you would talk to your support team about it.
the second (you carbon copied to support at Tonocracy), at 6:00pm est, you asked if this ‘was happening on all content or just certain assets?
I replied that it was only on the newly added captures.

if you replied after that it never made it to me.

i’m pleased with the prompt initial reply, but it seems like my interpretation of a problem was my not understanding this is not a problem at all but instead it is by design.
I assume that now anyway. Since support would likely know it is working by design and they would have let me know.
I only found out by chance on another forum.

So of course I shared my opinion. If that folder tree is the end product user interface, I can live with it.
Unless you are going to spam it full of product for sale like some of your competitors do. At a minimum filtering and search will be needed though. And we will need to be able to modify all folders which right now we can’t. I already have more than one Amalgum folder for example and the system won’t let me consolidate them.

i don’t mind a company making their additional content available and at a price but my workflow doesn’t need to include sifting through a never ending dump of individual sales offers that decide where they will pile up. And they are going to quickly clutter up the flow to the point I’ll give up, been there a few too many times to yet again set up a system to navigate the wake of a bad idea. *cough* QuadCortex *cough*

I wish I knew if Atomic was working on a hardware box for Tonocracy. I really don't like using software for my guitar sounds as I prefer my outboard effects and live sound so I really want the capture playback in a pedal. I'm tempted to go ahead and get a Tonex pedal because even if it's superseded soon, I can use it now and it will be satisfactory for a time.
FYI - I have purchased the full version of Tonocracy in support of the project.

I don't this for a fact but I'd think since they started as hardware company not making a pedal would be nuts. IMO that is.

Yea when I tried out the Tonacracy software and realized it took all of 10 minutes to prove it was going to replace ToneX for me the very next thought was ‘This is a project being introduced by Atomic Amplifiers so there will be a hardware line developed by the guys that brought out the AA6 and Firebox MkII!!’

I figured this software mated with that hardware has too much potential to be ignored. Even knowing the customer support at atomic was spotty and communication became terrible in many cases it was still worth the investment to buy in right away with hopes they get enough momentum to make it to the finish line.

In the box i use Tonocracy.
i kinda only using Tonex software to load stuff on the pedal right now.
And mistly the pedal is taking a backseat to UAFX Lion 68

I´ve been playing a while with the demo version, unlocking a couple captures.

It sounds very good to me.

The calibration feature is A MUST, IMO, and I think that only thing makes it a step above any other profiling solution (with the exception of the built-in-profiling units).

For me, it´s really annoying to load other´s profiles without knowing what gain to step in for accurate recreations of the original amp.

That said: does anybody know how to calibrate the audio interface to PLAY with Tonocracy, and not only to PROFILE with Tonocracy???

Wondering that because... well, I´ve calibrated it for profiling, but when I go to the input block for playing, there are "interface level" and inputs "gain" knobs... and they are not set to the calibration previously made. It´s confusing for me what values to put there.

What is "interface level"??? Physical knob in the interface is at minimum... what are you supposed to set there? Default value is +12db. Why?

And what is "gain" for the interface inputs???

Anyone throwing some light on this?

Look in your interface manual and look for its maximum Input level (at minimum gain).
In my case in an Apollo Twin X its 12.2 dB

Then in your input section up the 12dB thats in there to 12.2 done

Why so you have optimal gain staging and the profile or model reacts to your guitar volume like an amp would.

If you wann boost/or lessen it use the gain knob to the right.

Makes sense?

Yeah, Ed. Thanks.

I even calibrated the input gain and turns out to be different to the user manual specs (measured 16.2 dBu, specs say 10 dBu). The part of the gain stagging is clear to me, I´ve been reading a ton of posts here and there regarding that matter for using plugins correctly.

What I didn´t understand was the "Interface level" and "gain" parameters in Tonocracy´s input block. I mean... if you calibrate the interface in Tonocracy, why is it not setting the right values automatically? Is it maybe because they are not the same thing?

What you say is what I more or less understand. I´ll put +16.2 dB in the "Interface level" parameter. Then, the "gain"... I suppose that should be set to taste. I´ll put the "+5.23 dBu" that the calibration tool automaticaly sets on the input for captuing purposes. These parameters are global, since the input block is not set per preset. So I hope these are the values that the plugin expects (and not only the captures). But I´m not sure because there´s no mention of it in the manual.

EDIT: I´ve seen that it´s mentioned in the quick start guide. "Interface level" is the maximum input gain, as you say. It´s the manual spec or, even better, the measured one since it´s a more precise value. Then there´s the "Gain" parameter doubt. Still not sure about that.

Has anyone gotten the Tonocracy plugin to work in Logic on a Mac? I'm asking for a friend before I suggest he download the demo. I'm on Windows 11 and don't have any problems so far with the (licensed) Tonocracy VST in Ableton Live. I don't have a new Mac to test with.

I have it working with no issues except I get a warning at launch of Logic that I have an unsigned plug but I can click ignore and everything including Tonocracy works

You have the paid version right? Would you do me a favor when you get a moment? Could you go into your ILOK License Manager and just verify to me that either TMT or Tonocracy appear in there? Thanks

Yes, in iLok manager. Under 'Product Name' it says Tonocracy, under 'Publisher' it says TMT Technologies LLC

In the far left column there are four icons close together, (shows where it works?), only the 1st and 3rd are highlighted. For the other two plugs (NDSP) I have there the 1st, 2nd and 3rd are highlighted.

Cool , thanks for doing that. My Demo doesn't show there, thus it won't work as a plugin, so I gave up, as they couldn't tell me the real version would work on this system. I suppose anyone with newer OS's than mine shouldn't have an issue, but there is a chance it could be email -related as their email system wouldn't register Tonocracy with Comcast, and my Ilok (and everything else) is Comcast. Rock on and thanks, Eric

Shouldn’t be email related since activations on ilok are tied to ilok user name rather than email.

But for testing purposes make a new ilok account and try with the email you registered tonocracy.

I agree it shouldn't. So... I just tried to create a 2nd Ilok account using that Gmail address. Ilok wouldn't allow it, even with me using a different name, username, etc, so it must have an IP-related block. Good for them! BUT It let me change my normal acct to the Gmail address, and I reinstalled Tonocracy, and still no license, and because of no lisence it doesn't appear in ILOK and because of that has the exact same errors in Garageband and Logic. It seems to me it needs an 'activation code' to go into Ilok but since this is different than every other plugin I've tried (over 20 others!), since the company can't tell me a yes or no, it's not worth wasting the time anymore. It's been a month and 1/2. Definitely like the sounds and basic ease of use though. Thanks for taking the time Ed

To ask the obvious question.
Why would standalone work and plug in ghost you. Aren’t they both ilok protected.

I had weird plugin issues with logic before but i got like 2000 plugs in the machine. If it was me id install reaper since it gives you full festures in demo mode and see if it loads vst and au versions.

You would need to ask their programmers that. Standalone works 100% fine, and does NOT show in Ilok. Again, every other app whether I bought it or a demo works 100%. . Blackstar, Eventide, , Nembrini, ML, NeuralDsp, Polychrome, etc. Keep in mind I worked with Programmers for 15 years, and they were brilliant people BUT always needed 'help from users'. Simple scenario might be they might think a product works with Mac Catalina OS 10.15.7, but not realize that Ilok most modern version that can work on there is 5.9.0, etc.. . Anyway, They stopped responding well over a month ago, and no reason for me to waste more time on this, when everything else just 'works' effortlessly. I spent lots of time trying to figure this out, as I love the challenge, and mysteries, but nah, not worth it

p.s. if this does remain an open company and they do produce a hardware version I see no reason I wouldn't buy it, as I love their sounds
