Hey @Eagle I've heard modelling is so good now it's impossible to tell the difference between a line 6 pocket pod through a York IR and a gold Klon into a Dumble. What say you?

Cts 450 series Switchcraft Oak Grigsby and CRL switches. Higher voltage caps than needed seem to sound different during the sweep. Be more specific then I can be.

Any tips on solving issue of little rust on the bridge of an old guitar which a friend didn't use for years? It's otherwise working well.

Will he need to buy some special products to remedy it or it can be done using everyday household items too?

If it’s just a little a bit of WD40 will reduce it. Preferably remove the part disassemble and spray it thoroughly. Leave it overnight and then brush it with an old toothbrush. This will clean it up.

Just thinking it would be a decent idea to upgrade the guts in a
couple of guitars I put some nicer pickups in. I almost felt a little
sacrilegious putting such nice pickups in with such craptastic
electronics.

Mostly curious on Tone Caps in Telecasters.

Can someone explain to me how a vintage 250k pot or 0.22uF oil capacitor can sound better than a modern 250k pot or 0.22uF metal film capacitor when electrically they’re essentially doing the same damn thing?

Tolerance is tighter and the sweep is better on the pot and the cap doesn’t just kill all the treble first.
A tight tolerance modern pot and a 200v cap will do.

Hey Andy,

I have this PRS style guitar kit I got a million christmasses ago as a gift. I like it, but it cost like 90€ and it's not more than a fiddle.

Anyway, I was bored and hated the trem anyway (2 point style). Filled the Trem hole (top) and the cavity (back) with solid hardwood and 2 component.

Can you recommend a good, non-hassle fixed bridge? Maybe a top mount bc I don't want a string-thorugh (but also doable, just not my fav).

Or a wraparound?

Top is solid so I can drill in whatever I want.

Just a "Fender style" hardrail top mounter is preferable to me.
