4×12 "FRFR"!?

This product looks like it's completely missing the point of "FRFR" and modeling in general. I could really only see this appealing to people who never play live or people who have dedicated roadies like Metallica or some shit. Touring rock and metal bands are trying to downsize as much as they can and if they use modelers, a lot of times they are skipping cabs completely and going straight to FOH. I really don't understand who this is actually for.

At least this one is making it to production. Jet city tried something similar years ago and never got it out of behind-the-scenes-photos stage.

Was about time for something like this, wasn't it?
If I were to go loud and possibly heavier, I'd be all over this thing.

That is kind of nuts. There’s no difference between that and a normal guitar 4x12.
There's a big difference if you want "trumpets in your 4x12". Or if you want it to occasionally sound slightly more like a 1x10" Princeton cab... in theory? But mainly for the trumpets. I really don't know why anyone else would bother. Well, I suppose an integrated power amp is always a nice QoL thing.

You need to stop thinking of this as a real 4x12. It could possibly be that, too - but the main point is this being a giant studio monitor thing that you can use live. Which is just great.

This is probably a question for Jay. Is a single 1" compression driver going to be sufficient to keep up with the 4 12" speakers at the kind of SPLs one would assume a cabinet (and power amp) like this are meant to deliver? Or is Laney just assuming that by the time things get that loud, most guitarist wouldn't be paying attention to that part of the frequency spectrum anymore?

("They're trumpets!" "WHAAAT????" "THEY'RE TRUMPETS!!!")

It's great and it's awful.

First the good news: It's a giant studio monitor thing.

The bad news: Same.
