It actually has fewer native effects in it than the original ms70cdr, and that’s not accounting for adding effects to it after you hack it.Sorry, I suppose I am guilty of something I normally dislike.....many pardins kind sir.
I will research this more now .. because I am looking for a smaller solution, which is midi capable, and I only need a couple anp models. Not too many effects usually...but 2 of these and call me in the morning.
Once again, I apologize for being lazy.
Then spend more and get it.I'd consider the 70 if it had MIDI jacks. Making this type of gear without MIDI doesn't make any sense these days.
Spend more and get what? Pedals with MIDI? I have several. Then spend more and get it.
Oh that's interesting. Good to know.It has midi, just not the big 5-pin. You need to buy that $40 usb midi hub to translate from usb-c to 5-pin midi.
It sucks, but alot of new gear is going that direction (GX10, others) so it may become the new way of doing things.
MIDI is 40 years old tech, very easy and cheap to add these days to any digital device. I can see adding the 5-pin jacks being difficult on a small footprint but the 1/8" jacks would be fine.I don't expect a $100 pedal to have midi. Or a bottom rung modeler, fwtw. Grabbing some 3rd party adapter and stabbing around in the dark for midi implementation on a device not officially supporting it seems like a waste of time. Unless you are doing it for "fun".
I do think the Zoom sounds better between the two clips up top though
Agreed! It's moreso I probably wouldn't bother buying adapters to setup midi anything on something in this sort of price bracket. I'd probably just take it as is and roll with it. Good that it does support midi. I can see if you like these sounds in this particular box well enough and you don't want to spring for the flagship but still want the tones.MIDI is 40 years old tech, very easy and cheap to add these days to any digital device. TBF; the looks of the Zoom stuff is really, really bad. So it's tough to get over that appearance hump. There probably isn't as much profit margin (or physical space) on small devices. Boss GX10 also has midi over usb-c so maybe Boss/Zoom have headed in this direction. It could be commonplace for everyone to own one of those $40 usb/midi hub within the next five years.
These are the amps in the G11, which I chose over Helix and GT1000 three years ago. (I listened with my ears, not my eyes.) People dislike the size and form factor of the G11, so this pedal at $129 should be very popular if people get over their preconceptions. If I sell the G11, I would probably get one of these pedals just to "have" these amps.
I had one of the 2.1u(?) units with my 5150 in the loop back in the day. It did the trick. I had the CDR for a minute or two but have not felt the pull to really revisit any of their stuff.Well, the MS-50G has a rather complete MIDI implementation and you can easily access pretty much everything through MIDI-to-USB.
