You just can’t trust online information

I would actually disagree as the bII root is taking one of the important notes away from the IIm7b5, namely it's root.
For me, a bIImaj7 is a more open sounding variation of a bII7 (tritone sub).
And you’re welcome to. In my world the bIImaj7 is a minor subdominant as much as the IV-7 or iim7b5 and can do double duty for the V all day long.

We still play this one :pickle

My brain thinks of it in sharp terms.. so therefore I'm right. (in my own mind)

According to Google AI, if it leads down to the C it is a D flat which means you are wrong...except Google AI is wrong more often than it is right, so maybe you are right? This thread makes my brain hurt.

That's not what I meant. I know how to name chords.

I mean, like how they're discussing chords in terms of a 'home key', and calling them a iib, or backdoor dominant (whatever the heck that is), or a tritone, etc.

Flat 5th power chord or flat 5th5? I would write it out with some cool symbols but I barely know how to type regular letters and numbers.
