In that guy dribbling in the corner and laughing out of context sort of way.Y'all let Dave L be. He looks to be having more fun than most of us here.![]()
It’s a good pedal but not as dynamic feeling as the original.I like my Tumnus Ge Deluxe. The eq possibilities make it a lot more flexible and useful than a typical Klon.
Have you played a real one in to a fender tube amp?The Klon is the reason that I got into building pedals. I wanted one but I couldn’t even afford a knock-off, let alone the $2000 they cost at the time.
when I plugged in and hit the first chord, I thought “oh, I get the hype now.” It’s definitely my favorite distortion circuits.

Never. Original Klon owners won’t let you.My KTR with original "magic" diodes is now an investment - I should never have opened the box! As things are going, I'll hang onto mine until I can trade it in for a Fender instead of a Squier, which is about its going rate atm. I can almost get a new Marshall 1960 4x12...
When do we KTR (magic diodes I tell you!) owners get to call ours a real Klon?!?
I was totally where you are. I’ve only very recently come to find the Klon thing works for me pushing EOB into a commendable crunch while staying very lively and not getting overly compressed. My Marshalls love it, I really need to try it through the Mesas.I never quite understood the overall hype to be honest.
I’ve read this as well, and similar statements about Fulltone. Fletcher Munson and all but I really can’t decide whether I think it’s BS.Fwiw, I was informed long ago that a Klon (I have a KTR), like a Prince of Tone (I don't have a KoT), only shines when the volume is LOUD.
I play quiet, at home. My KTR and PoT sit on a shelf.
OMG I haven’t run the klone through the Bassman yet. This is exciting. I could see it working really well with a broad range of guitars too. It’s a pretty safe bet if you put a Klon(e) in front of a JTM45/Bassman with a shitload of reverb, I’ll be sitting there for hours just getting lost in the tones.
Definitely finding my Marshall circuits love it as well. Switching between LPs and Teles here and that seems to work really well also. Good stuff.Yup Klone plus Marshall with reverb and delay is my happy place.
I was kinda joking. It being a mid-forward thing makes sense that players would latch onto it. I just think it's funny how expensive originals have become.I was totally where you are. As far as the Prince of Tone is concerned, that was directly from Analog Mike.I’ve read this as well, and similar statements about Fulltone. Fletcher Munson and all but I really can’t decide whether I think it’s BS.
