Everything I’ve heard from the UA units sounds fantastic, but I haven’t used one due to the limitations of their current products (no presets, midi, etc).

What are the biggest differences you notice from fractal?

D

For quite a while, before going full digital, I ran my amps into a reactive load and used IRs. The UA stuff for me is the best because of how familiar they not only sound but also feel compared to that setup. Not only when I use a guitar straight in but also when I hit it with a pedal. With everything other than the UA stuff it always felt somewhat off, but with them it was just plugging it in and "there it is".

I am honestly still really liking my Kemper. I like my FM9 also but I prefer the more simple workflow of the Kemper. I can easily get tones I am looking for out of both of them. I was running pedals into a Friedman IR-D for a while. I have put all of those away and connected my Kemper with SPDIF and use the app on my laptop to control it. I have really been enjoying the tones I am getting from it. I have done the same thing with my FM9 and have really liked the results of that as well. I will possibly use both for some recording I want to do. I will get some tones from each.

I’m quite confident I’ll sound like me no matter what I play through so for me it’s a lot about specific features and form factor. I want a floor pedal with an EXP built in that can do dynamic parameter mods and has a ricochet-style pitch effect. Moved from Helix to Boss over the last 3 months or so and I’m not mad about my choice.
