What I would tell a younger me starting out on guitar

  • Get a guitar teacher. You'll otherwise suck at music theory later.
  • Don't buy a Zoom 505, Boss GT-6 or that way too loud Laney AOR combo.
  • Don't buy that doubleneck Dean. It's heavy as hell, even though it's cool and sounds great. If you still do it, don't sell it!
  • Keep your tube amps.
  • Go for that afterwork drink in summer 2013, and talk to that blonde lady with the daphne blue polka dot sunglasses. She's awesome.

Multi effects = option paralysis for me.

Guys like you and also women like me will be interested in talking with ladies wearing fancy sunglasses. I am quite shy though.

Spend 20 minutes on reading and 20 minutes on ear training every day. That is all, 10-4, over and out. Check and clear.

1. Practice A LOT more, the girls and social life will come later.
2. It's more about who you know, than how good you are.
3. Leave the chorus and delay, in the 80's. That will affect EVERY gear purchase you ever make, if you don't.
