Geetar maintenance/upgrades today....

upgraded the pots in my purple partscaster and GFS tele to some nice cts pots. So much nicer now.
(yes those are wire nuts... I do that on all my strats so I can decouple the jack easy)

also took off the "Slick" logo on the tele.
Now it just looks like the mutt it is.

Also NGD...
Traded a kid a boss ch-1 and big muff for a cheap entry level epi SG. The pedals were given to me so it was free imo

I had to replace the jack and find a knurled nut for the 3 way switch. Both of which I had in my parts bins
Check out the fit and QA on the pickup cavity cover... notice the upper right screw location. :wat
Lot of room for activities in there though.

After a little fret polish and setup it plays chugs just fine. I did the over the tailpiece thing with the strings like the cool kids do too.
I also had a set of chrome plated laser cut pickup covers that I never thought I'd use, but they look like they were made for this axe.

It still amazes me what a $200 guitar is capable of these days. You can't build a guitar like this for that price.

we are jamming tonight. im going to A/B two rigs. pedals and mesa into the mesa 412 and then my QC and quilter into my other 4x12. should be fun, especially if i can get the QC on that new update.

Moved my dual Synergy Syn-2 and Fryette PS-2A Power Station setup to my office rig, then setup my Morningstar MC8 to control the Synergy. I also updated the Morningstar MC8, as well as adjust the Boss GT-1000 Core patch some.

Dropped from 10's down to 9.5's on my Ibanez AZ HSS. I think I realized I like a little higher action but with that a little lighter gauge string. Now it feels super easy to play. Also tweaked the truss rod a bit because there was too much bow so notes were a bit sharp around the 5th fret. With that and adjusting the intonation, chords are sounding SO much better on this guitar. Truly my #1.

Up next, I'll probably swap my Strat guard out to put the Suhr V60LP back in, probably with the mint green / aged white look, and then set up the tremolo for floating again. And likely go 9.5's on that as well.

Oh yeah, one more annoying thing, the output jack on my Ibanez AZ is a long barrel jack...it keeps cutting in and out with my wireless. Going to order a Switchcraft replacement as I've heard those are much better quality. I will say I love this guitar but both pots and now the output jack have failed. Bummer.

Nice. I have done the 9.5 thing on a few guitars this past year, too.

Have some more Pickup swapping to do. Gathered a couple more Charvels, and
really have come to loathe the Full Shred they put in the Bridge position of a
lot of them. Fairly scooped in the Mids, and that is just not my bag. So I have a
Jason Becker Sig, and an Andy Timmons Sig to go in and replace the Full Shreds.

Both should deliver the Mids and not be too scooped or too compressed. :idk

Really enjoying the 9.5 with higher action. Bends just feel nice. I like the slinky 9 feel but they get a little rattly unless the action is really high. Maybe I’ll throw that on a guitar for kicks.

Also I am absolutely loving these emgs, the single coils sound like they have a bit of humbucker blended in. Easier transition to humbucker guitars I think.

I’ve got a pack of 9.5’s that’ll be going on my Strat at the next string change. I haven’t dropped below 10’s in over 25 years, but figured I’d give them a shot. I think I’m more curious about the sound of them than anything else.

I need to check my Amazon account, I know I was looking at setup tools last night because I’m going to attempt re-fretting again. I have my old MIM Strat I need to yank the shitty frets out of I already fucked up twice and then I’m going to completely refinish/refret my sunburst Strat, sanding down to the wood, going from a 10” radius to a 12”, med/jumbo frets and then I’ll get the period correct Fender logo and nitro that fucker up.

I’m thinking I’ll give stainless steel frets a shot, simply because they’ll force me to take my time and I’m more likely to catch myself filing the ends too much before I get to that point. That was my issue on my previous refrets, I had my head WAY up my ass when filing the fret ends and removed way too much material.
