The more miserable the musician, the better the music. As it SHOULD be!

I haven’t heard about Unto Others before but just watched one of their videos on YouTube. I don't really hear much similarity to Paradise Lost. Maybe both bands draw some inspiration from goth rock like Sisters of Mercy, but while the song I heard from Unto Others sounded a bit like a Halloween version of The Ramones (I don't mean that in a negative way at all, I actually liked the song), Paradise Lost are more rooted in doom metal. However, they have undergone many style changes in their long career and have even sounded like a bad-tempered version of Depeche Mode at times. In recent years, however, they have returned to their doom and death metal roots.I need to dig in I think. I do like some goth tinged stuff. Unto Others is one of my newest favorites (though not miserable) and probably not much in common with PL other than certain influences maybe?
They are pretty Cure if they like 80s metal. Very baritone goth on the vocal delivery. They do a cover of Pet Semetary and it fits them quite nicely! I have a weird affinity for goth if it's something I like, though I am super not into it if it doesn't hit me the right way off the bat? Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll definitely listen to a few more songs from Unto Others.

Love me some Depeche Mode! Their live album 101 is definitely an essential part of the soundtrack of my late childhood /early youth.[…] Bad tempered Depeche Mode actually sound awesome![]()
