Man what a powerful voice, Dio is God !!
And Iommi's tone is very different here From what I gather its a Boogie IIc and Treble booster and the distinction here is the Cocked Wah (not sure which he used though)

Off to FM9 Edit :D

They're opening for Ryche again on this run. The show sold out before I got tickets for the last Ryche run so I'm definitely not missing this one, especially if Saint is opening. Bush sounded GREAT last time I saw them with Ryche.

Man, I loved that last Armored Saint Album. :chef

Theey had some really fun videos they did for it, too.
I may need to go to that show. Origins Tour? WTF??!! :banana

I don't believe he used the treble booster with the Mark IIB/IIC amp. The treble booster was tossed away in the late 70s. I'm also not sure when he started using a Marshall instead of a Laney. He used a Tycobrahe wah for the solo; it isn't used for the rhythm guitars. According to what I'm seeing online, the Mark IIB or IIC wasn't used until 1982 or 1983.

Marshall Super Lead 1959
This amp was modified by John “Dawk” Stillwell, who designed a new circuit for it that included an extra tube and a master gain control. The amp was used on Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules albums

This would mean that the Mark II was likely used for the Born Again album.

Yeah I read that Article as well very interesting
But I'm pretty sure i also read somewhere else that yes for the Rhythm he also used a wah you can hear it has a cocked wah tone to it
Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules certainly dont sound the same
But when I get to it ill be experimenting for sure Boogies/Marshals, Wahs and some form of booster
:idk

The sound is not a cocked wah for the rhythms. The solo is.

Once you get the Marshall 1959 sounding hotrodded, experiment with speakers such as G12-65, H30, M20 and M25. The V30 and T75 wasn't around yet. The treble booster was nowhere to be seen as it was tossed. An EQ in front might get the Marshall to sound closer to the mods John did. Then get a brighter style wah rather than a throatier Crybaby, Fasel style thing.

As I mentioned I will be experimenting

Fuck Yeah! April date here. No snow!
Same here. I told the wife we were going but haven't committed just yet for reasons describe above. I would actually rather see the Saint do a full night versus seeing QR so soon again in the same venue. They are also up north in Cedar Rapids in that same time period on a Sunday. I would be more inclined to see them there I think?

@Stone not sure how heavy you like to go; but Sacrifice is from your Canadian neck of the woods and does a great take on the Slayer thing. That album is an old school masterpiece in a sort of semi-unsung way :satan

For me JT its pretty much anything, as long as its not rap/ hiphop, I do always tend to lean towards heavy
Buti Love good music no matter what genre

QR is doing the EP and The Warning in their entirety. That's enough for me, and I have not seen AS since the late 1980's.

Second set of tics purchased for the 2024 Concert season. Shaping up to be a nice year. :beer

They did a good chunk of the Warning and the EP when we saw them. It was certainly a good set. You'll love it I am betting \m/
