What are we watching now?

Watched a 70's thriller I had never seen. Capricorn One. A group of astronauts is supposed to go to Mars but things go sideways and they have to go into hiding as the government decides to fake the landing. James Brolin, OJ and a bunch of other known 70s talents star. Got this recommendation from some YT AI channel "You've never seen this little know 70's thriller!" vid and was definitely pleased. It's not perfect but very much enjoyed it nonetheless \m/

I stumbled onto an incredible movie last night that I had never even heard of (goes to show the rock I live under - it actually won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2013). It is called "12 Years A Slave" and it is a POWERFUL movie based on a true story. If you have not watched it, it is a must see IMO! WARNING: there is some very graphic content that some may find hard to view.

Finally got caught up with Landman, S2, and damn, what a great show! Like, every character's writing is "Taylor-made" (see what I did there?) for the actor. Everyone is brilliant.

And I haven't heard dialog this good since a Taratino movie.

"How much flowers?"
"Oh, enough to say I tried, but not so many that says 'I cared'." :rofl:rofl

The only little thing I noticed, and it's minor, but Dale's character seems a bit more refined, like someone took him aside and gave him some tips. But he was fine just the way he was in S1.

Oh hell yeah!! Great movie. (y)

I wish it had a bit more of the oil drama this season. And I think the mom and daughter makes sense but I wish someone trimmed a bit of their screen time. It's funny at first but then immediately annoying :ROFLMAO:
Watched Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1&2, The Usual Suspects and Shawshank this week with my teenage boys. Got more stuff queued up from that era, but we did watch Marty Supreme
Good dad! I really wish the Kill Bill double feature would have played around here :(

January is for hibernating. Here that means drinking less, getting dry,
eating more, and sitting on my ass binging TV I don't have the time (or
inclination to watch other times of the year!).

I want to chow an entire bag of edibles and drift away.

I got sucked into Fallout, Landman, Stranger Things, and Pluribus. Not
necessarily in that order.

Landman is an hoot! And after having been in Texas for a trip recently I
am all, "I drove down that fucking road man!"
:banana

And yes, stunningly beautiful women are always stunningly expensive and
high-maintenance. Or so I hear. :idk As a man I enjoy big money, politics,
corruption, working in the field plotlines more.

Fallout is like, "Yup, that's gonna be us in the not too distant future." Love
your nose while you have it people.... errr... I mean.... ghouls. :rollsafe

Stranger Things has run its course. What a great freaking ride, though.
:chef Being such an cash cow, though, I expect a load of spin offs.

Pluribus is just a big why? Why does such an odd show with little to pull you
in get such rave reviews. Critics are often cluleless. One of those, "I better keep
watching, because I am supposed to like this and think it is awesome."

It wasn't. For me. :idk

Yes, definitely. I agree, and forgot to mention that. I found myself talking to the screen- "Just get back to the main plot item, ffs!"

Then I realized they know they have a winner on their hands, so they're gonna create as many side-plots as they can to milk it for all its worth. 6 seasons wouldn't surprise me.

Watching words go by on pages of a book atm. Yeah, those old things. Sis bought me Brothers by Alex Van Halen, and Last Rites by Ozzy for Christmas. Reading the VH book first.

I really want to read that VH book.
It's prompting me to check out songs I've never heard that Al's referring to, like Alvin Lee's I'm Going Home.

It was one of the first songs he said Ed learned, "...nailed the solo, it was brilliant..., nobody we knew could do that..."

Tell me this doesn't give you EVH vibes! I can clearly hear Eddie's swing coming from this sort of music.
