In a way, I only feel so bad for those passengers, I mean, if you're going to do something like that, you better know EVERYTHING about that CEO, the company, and the vessel itself. They clearly didn't do their research.

We've been watching The Wire. It's been years since I saw it, but it really still holds up.
It's wild looking at early 2000s crime drama with 2025 eyes. So much has changed. To make this series today, the cops would have to be wiretapping criminals' Whatsapp groups or something. A lot of the crimes would have plots revolving around somebody having filmed it on their smartphone. Stringer Bell would be a paranoid wreck only a few episodes in.

How can people be so fucking stupid??? I'm watching a show about that Carnival cruise ship that broke down in the Gulf of Mexico, and after they realized it was going to be a few more days of having to shit in a bag, no food, no A/C, people sleeping out on the decks, the urine and feces building up, etc., some bright person decides to open up the bar! Maybe a good idea to initially take their minds off the problems, but how could they not think it through, and realize it would end up backfiring, once people got drunk, in those conditions?
And all hell breaks loose. A newlywed couple having sex right out on the deck, men pissing off the side of the ship, someone tossed a poop bag and the wind blew it back onto someone....
And all from a fire on the ship that burned through main power cables. So no refrigerators, no lights, no A/C, and no working toilets! And apparently it's not the first time Carnival had a fire on one of their ships, which makes me think- lack of maintenance. Letting oil and grease build up from the engines in places where it can catch fire. SMH
I'm sure a cruise would be a great time, but there's no way this guy is getting on an isolated, floating skyscraper, with 6000 people. Nah. I'll go to the mountains by myself.

Been watching random movies. Did a Jaws and Jaws 3 mini marathon the other day. 3 is do darn cheesy but I have always loved it. Watched Disturbia with Shia Leboux (sp?) and reminded me how great a little early 2000s popcorn flick it was.
Went to the theater a few days back and watched 28 Years Later. Definitely a Danny Boyle film. Excellent heart wrenching vibes at odd places, whacked out camera angles/shots and tripped out bits all over the place. I really enjoyed it as it showed how you could do a modern zombie story with tropes, have it make an emotional impact without being some Walking Dead season 40/Last of Our Turds episode 3 SLOG.

Went to see 28 Years Later last night. Agree with everything here.
It was a bit of a mixed bag but I still enjoyed it. It almost looks like a nature documentary at times.
Like any good zombie film, the main themes of the film are about something other than zombies.
We also watched Tremors 2 last weekend. It's not as good as the original, but still pretty solid fun. We'll probably watch Tremors 3 tomorrow as we got a Tremors 1-3 DVD boxset recently.

It's been a few decades since I've seen it so honestly don't even remember. Quick google gives it a lot of different meanings and interpretations - which is also something that can make a film interesting. How people interpret it either through the lens of their current experience, or based on e.g the political and social climate of when the film came out.
What its makers intended is not always the most interesting interpretation either.
