Vox Bobcats

I recently added a black Vox Bobcat V90 to the black S66 I already had. I really like these guitars. Both of mine are very lightweight and well built. The ebony fretboards feel great, the inlays look good and are well done and everything feels good quality. I understand they didn't sell well at the ~$1600 that they were offered at, and I got each of mine for under $600 (pretty good hard case included), but mine sure look, feel, and play like guitars that cost $1600.

The sounds may have simply been too "different" for most people. Lots of folks simply won't try something different, which is why another of my favorites - the also MIK Gretsch 5622T original three pickup model, was quickly homogenized. I like mine through anything mid-gain, especially lately my Marshall-voiced Blues Cube BOSS Drive Special.

Who else here is using a Bobcat or two?

I have both a V90 and S66 models and am a big fan.

I spend a lot of my time on the middle position with the V90 when playing clean; more than with other pickup types.

I especially like the S66 pickup voicing. It’s vaguely reminiscent of a Strat, but completely different when A/Bing with one.

I love that Vox took some chances with these guitars. I also have a SSC-33 which has their Co-Axe pickups. I didn’t imagine that they would put out a series with niche pickups after that.

This thread is making want get them out of their cases tonight.

I have a V90, great guitar but doesn't generally fit with what I'm looking for, and it's lived in its case for a couple years now?

I need to bust it out for sure. I did keep having issues with the pickup selector, I have to reach a finger in the s hole :poop:(lmao) and pull the contacts a bit. :rofl

I broke out the S66.
