Update: Headed for a CAT scan....

Funny, just a few weeks before all this I bought this - USB powered - so wouldn't have to guess if I was too loud at night. Listening to music now with the meter running under 70 and can hear it well enough to tell songs apart. Still sounds like there's a big pillow in front of the speaker but just yesterday the meter would need to be high 70s to hear the same amount. (y)

PRO TIP for anyone who may go through this in the future and wishes to maintain a sane relationship with your partner.
Portable dry erase boards. Got two of them for $12 and they've been an absolute God send.

Follow up with the ear specialist doc today. Says it's progressing good and that all the weird crackles and pops I'm hearing are normal. I'm getting back the lows and mids for sure but a lot of the highs are still gone. Kinda like when you cup your hands over your ears.

At one point he's looking deep inside my ear and he has me pinch my nose and push. Did it to both sides and said he's seeing tiny bubbles from the fluid that's still left. Tens days ago they were both fully packed with it.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Glad it's on the road to recovery.

I am amazed at how long the ear can take to heal.

Two times now I have had significant trouble with my ears and it seems to take a year for things to get mostly back to normal.

Quick update. After slowly progressing in the right direction it seems I hit a brick wall a couple of days ago and today I've gone backwards. Let the doc know and he called in another round of prednisone, but a little more sane this time.
40mg a day for 7 days then 20mg a day for 2 and 10mg for 2 more.
Since I didn't have side effects doing 60mg a day I figure this should be a breeze.
knocking on wood!

Dang. I am not sure how well I would handle something like that. You seem to be dealing with it like a champ @Achilles

In somewhat related news. My friend's wife had COVID, recovered, and then a week later is in the Hospital with a
very acute infection in her small intestine. Coincidence?? This COVID shit don't fuck around. :(
