So I got my Chinese Tyler SE-HD or as it's called JTG MK1.

I posted this over at TOP but figured someone might wanna know...

It is what it should be?.. a damn Tyler.
Import notwithstanding it does exactly what one expects. A Strat with a huge ass.
Not like others (to quote my friend Matte H.) tgat sound like the top only (no sides or back).

It has the same radius as the US ones, and the edges are more like the US model than the Japanese.

My point of comparison with boost off Landau Coma (and I like those) I'd take this any day over the Coma.
Compared to the Mexi Charvels, not even a contest.
Plus it came set-up so I didn't have to do FA. Shaky well dialed in for brand new after using travelled 5000 miles

As my drummer said, we gotta write a new tune just for this.

I can't wait to see it's sister, Jimburst Mongoose I'm waiting for.

As for transparency, I go back with Tyler decades. And Rich Renken had me give input on alit of things he worked on..

I'm sure someone is still gonna say I'm a shill.
Nevertheless, I'd friggin buy 2 of those then any 3600 bucks boutique thing.

And it's my fave lead sound, I will dig out the spec sheet after I'm done punishing it. Only got 5 hours straight on it :)

Plus I need to really A/B it to the US and Japan model. But the first impression is that it has the phat vibe like it's spensive bro more than it's neighbor.

I'm definitely interested to check these out. If they play half as nice as the 'real deal' they'll be quite stellar guitars, headstock be damned!
Assuming mine was an average of wahr Thea ship they are gonna.
The set up was just stupid good.
I think them doing final QC and set up at the LA store makes a big difference.

I mean I rather get a Indo Strandberg for 2500 than a Japan Ibanez, but I'd ignore both those for this Chyler.
I mean come to think of it the Japan Tylers kill the usual suspects in 3500 bucks category.

That’s an odd choice of fret size for that . I would say 55090 or 57110 would be a far better option. I would have to refret that out of the box for me. 51/1000” is too low as a starting point then how much is lost in the dress . Budget builds typically loose more, even higher quality ones such as this.
The lack of quarter sawn wood on the neck is also a surprising omission considering EVH manage to use it on MIM Wolfgangs. It’s an important feature for Tyler imo.
I await getting my hands on one before committing in full but I would like to see under the pick guard to see if that’s been cut back. I get the issues that if you just sent the cad files and full specs to China they could make them the same but that would be a problem for the USA product. It’s a balancing act between a good product and one that doesn’t damage the core line.

Hell yeah, been excited to see one of these in the wild since Rich mentioned they were coming when I went to the factory in October.

Being setup in the LA shop is a huge plus.

How's the midboost?

Mine showed up today, arriving in tune and with a bang on setup. Pretty similar first impression's to Ed's - none of the "plasticky" feel/tone some imports have with lots of the fine details spot on.

Neck single coil isn't too far removed from the Suhr Landau pickup I've got in my '77 Fender and the mid-boost makes it a beefy lead machine.
