To Harley Or Not To Harley, That Is The Question?

I haven't replaced mine yet. I hunted around for a bit, but didn't see anything
I absolutely loved. Also not sure I want to ride anymore after the accident. So
at the present time I am turning that Harley Insurance $$ into some new gear
for the Studio. Which I can ride anytime of year.

I probably won't replace mine. As much as i enjoy it I always end up sore after riding it. My back has gotten worse, even with PT. Neck and shoulder too. My brother might take them both. Maybe I'll feel better by spring.

Makes me think of when I had a mountain bike and had a horrendous crash, didn't ride it much after that.

Brain gonna brain.

Brain not like crashes. :hmm

Brain protect body, some times. :hmm

Holy shit, @la szum. I missed that you hit a deer! That sucks. Fucking dumbass animals. Sorry to hear about the bike :(

My old dipshit neighbor hit a deer on a crotch rocket at high speeds, with no helmet, and splattered the deer so much that he got blinded temporarily (few days) by the deer blood. He was lucky AF he didn't die. Just the eyes and a messed up leg.

This bike makes my pants tight in the front.

Scared creatures. Fuck I would run like hell if I heard an Harley screaming at me down the Highway!

Just glad I was riding something heavy enough that it kept me upright and going in a straight line. :beer

Well holy shit @la szum, I hadn’t clicked on this thread in a long time, and I missed a lot  . Glad you’re OK!

Here in central Ohio, deer are everywhere. I live east of Columbus in a suburb that touches the rurals. We get deer in our backyard on an almost daily basis (and it doesn’t help that my developmentally disabled stepSIL that lives with us HAS to feed them 😡), and I could not imagine riding out in these parts.

At this point in my life, this is the only Harley I would care to have:

Thanks @CBHScott . Appreciate it. :beer

The Midwest is full of Deer. Farmland = unlimited Free Food. Trees = cover.

They started a program here in Michigan where you can kill as many as you
want as long as you donate the excess to Food Banks or Shelters. Just not
enough Hunters, and we have created the ideal environment for them to
thrive in without any real Predators apart from us and our Cars, Trucks, and
Motorcycles.

And yeah, as cute as they seem to be feeding them just exacerbates the issue. :idk

I have deer in my yard all the time. I basically live in the woods. They seem to not be afraid anymore. You can almost approach them. There are so many that they are allowing hunting in areas that they usually don't, if you have a special permit. I hope my dad or brother gets one this season.

I read the first page and was going to caution against getting a bike, then skipped to the last page and saw that some variation of what I expected would happen, did happen. Glad you are ok.

I used to race cars when I was younger and I am impressed with how far beyond the safe capabilities of their vechicles most people drive. No way in hell I would ever get a bike.

A personal childhood friend died on a bike. He was the "cool kid" whose parents bought him a mini bike at ten.

Sorry for the loss of your childhood friend. :(

I may replace the Harley Hole in My Heart with some Mic Preamps, Compressors, and
other assorted things with Tubes in them.

Related note. The couple I was traveling with, and who saw everything
while riding behind me are considering selling their Harley. The wife
told him she doesn't feel safe riding anymore. :(

Part of the enjoyment was a sense of freedom---hair blowing in the wind
and all that jazz---and for me that sense of freedom is gone. I know I
would be a tense ball of nerves. :crazy

You could get a roadster. A miata or something nicer. Or maybe a jeep.
