Thinking about selling the Stealth

Ahh there's some good sounds to had. I don't think you like gain as much as I do though :bag :satan It's certainly more than a bit generic high gain sounding to my ears but it is good for what it is. The 100 watter is supposed to sound massive but it's something I have zero GAS for. It's also massive sized for reasons I am not sure why on nor am a fan of.
I hate. HATE IT.

And if I had a dollar for every time someone said to me “oh I don’t use the red channel. Too much gain. I just use the green and blue.”

I’ve yet to meet a person IRL that actively uses the red, even on the regular 6L6 and EL34 amps.

When I'm playing it's 100% Red channel on the 50w Ivory and 100w Stealth here, no ragrets.

I'll only go Blue if Reamping for a recording, and even then I'm usually pairing it with a drive pedal. Recordings tend to need way less gain than my caveman day to day needs, but otherwise its Red all the way.

I desperately need to plug in and try my ikon and dunes as a boost. I started getting a little sick of the “same-Iris” sounds of the sd-1 as a boost but I have new toys to test :satan

The 5150 and 6505 have always been those amps that I love when other people play through them, but I absolutely hate when I play through them. I’m the same way with most fuzz petals. It’s kind of disappointing, because I love the Soldano SLO, and always hoped it really was a rip off of that amp at a lower price.

If you put a 12au7 tube in the channel 3 driver (I think v3?) you can temper down the gain and make the whole knob usable. I have had two EVH 5150 IIIs and found the blue channel to be too generic and the red channel to be too much gain, but by changing a few of the preamp tubes out to different options the amp becomes wildly better IMO.
