My 2 cents from growing, it’s all about harvest time. Plants harvested earlier have a clearer more cerebral high and plants harvested later have a heavier sleepier high, regardless of indica/sativa lineage. Most big production grows harvest later to maximize yield so it basically all affects me the same way. So I pretty much ignore indica/sativa (most strains are hybrid at this point anyway) and look for the highest THC content and anything with a name that indicates it’s going to smell like gas/diesel, because that always hits the hardest to me. If I don’t want to get wrecked I smoke less.

I notice less of a difference with flower, but concentrates and rosin definitely hit different depending on indica/sativa. For transportation purposes I’m mostly smoking vapes during the week.

Agreed. I used to smoke a lot of rosin and it’s almost a different high than flower. But I got a pax mini vaporizer recently and it’s pretty nice being able to just buy a regular bag of weed and grind it up again. And really portable too. I don’t do vape cartridges.

To this day I still never think about the name of the strain. All I need to know is if it’s indica or sativa dominant so I can plan my activities.

There’s something about a THC overdose that flips a panic switch in some people’s brains. I tripped on ~500 mics of LSD and I couldn’t really talk for function for 12 hours but I held it together. But I overdid it on edibles like you and legitimately thought I was dying for 3 hours. It’s not fun when it happens.

All it takes is once with edibles to ruin them forever. I took too much once and thought I was a Balrog, and not in a good way. Once you're a Balrog you realize real quick how badly you do not want to be a Balrog

Dry Herb Vapes are the way. Them concentrates and the high-temp inhalation will fuck your shit up long-term.

The difference is massive. Yeah, maybe it doesn't get you as "lit" as a concentrate.... but you are also NOT
inhaling 700F-900F vapor directly into your lungs. WTF?? :facepalm

I like doing the slow-burn starting at 310F and then gradually roasting up to 400F or so. You get more flavor
and the terps jump out. It also satisfies the geeky/nerdy/science side of me.

I like the Silver Surfer vape for this reason. The temperature changes depending on how hard you hit it, so you can use a harder draw at first for flavor and then finish it up with a slower draw to extract the goodies. The oil carts are fun and convenient but only for occasional use for me. Didn't know the temps were that high with those things...gonna have to avoid them in the future.

I think the super high temps he’s referring to are dabbing, right? Not necessarily the vape cartridges, but dabbing oil on a red hot piece of titanium or quartz or whatever. I could be wrong.

My concern with the cartridges is what is that heating element made of, what is in the juice, and what are the long term consequences of vaping propylene glycol and whatever else is in there?

My dab hits are water cooled before they hit my lungs…..and I generally only take one and I’m GOOD for the night.

I can’t remember the last time I smoked flower, it’s too unpredictable for me. Gummies, distillate and RSO are my main jam but I generally have a vape cart on hand. Hell, my dispensary is always giving shit away and I don’t think I even bought my last couple carts.

I’m all sativas these days, which is crazy because they used to get me so paranoid/anxious, but going the edible route changed all that. I was using it for a while to combat ADHD but with my eating habits still not being consistent, I’d have some days it’d work great and other days I’d just get high AF and I can’t have that.

I think the funniest thing though is how rare it is for me to get ripped these days. I might partake every day, but I’m rarely getting what I’d consider “stoned”.

Edit- I was curious about the differences between distillates and RSO, as they’re both “full bodied”, for me the distillate is very cerebral while the RSO swallows your whole body up in a big, comfy marshmallow.

Carts I have are live resin, no glycol or additives, using a ceramic coil. Ceramic buckets on my dry herb and concentrate vaporizers with variable voltage.

When I was vaping freebase nicotine I used to make my own coils using cotton and kanthal wire, and wired up a few concentrate e-dabbers too. These days I stick with the refillable salt pods and live rosin carts for OTG as I don't have much tinkering time.

So how much is too much in terms of regular use?

If enjoying the blessed herb every day, does anybody ever feel that their work or thinking is affected when sober? Any brain fog or other notable issues ?

There's a lot of stuff on the internet that suggests that regular use is a bad thing; there's also a lot of crap on the internet. You guys with real world experience likely know better. Seems like a lot of you are very regular appreciators :D

Brain fog and ‘pot hangovers’ are my marker for ‘too much’. A pot hangover is when I wake up with brain fog right away, rather than waking up feeling refreshed and eager to start the day.

Because I’ve been working with my psychiatrist on figuring out the best path forward for the ADHD I keep an active journal on my mental state, focus and motivation levels and when adding THC into the mix, track that as well.

None of this stuff is as effective if I don’t actually come down off it each day, so I really try not to consume anything too close to bed so I’m not going to sleep high (that’s automatic pot hangover territory). The first time I consume something in a day, I want to feel the full effects of it and that just won’t happen if I’m consuming nonstop.

That said, I’m not even getting brain fog with some of the edible routes. Sativa distillates don’t really make me tired when they wear off, no brain fog or anything, I still just put about 12 hours between consumption though. I won’t even touch anything until my day is well underway and some kind of schedule is laid out, if I consume before that it’s like I’m fighting against the THC all day.

Marijuana combusts around 400-450F when you put it to a flame. That is slightly above what you can
get with a dry herb vape. I think mine goes to 440F, but I only ever go to around 420F, but most often
in the 310 to 380 range. Carts are vaped at higher temps. I think this is why you can get such severe lung
damage in young people who are vaping nicotine-based products, too. Our lungs were not made to withstand
that level of heat exposure---regardless of what the substance is----even if it does cool a bit by the time
it gets from the vape to your lungs. :idk

Marijuana is medicine, so it makes sense that people would dose and use according to their needs,
as well as their individual makeup and sensitivities.

Far superior, in that sense to anything that has alcohol in it---which is only good for sterilizing wounds,
or as an antiseptic for pre- and post--operative procedures.

This is SO fascinating. Dorian is a former Mr. Olympia and one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Love this stuff. We've had 100+ years of government propaganda and disinformation about
Cannabis. Nice to see that nonsense getting plundered by real studies and actual science.

I love how Huberman is anti-Pot and says he is an open boox, but when Dorian comes at him
and drops knowledge, science, and real world examples (like Professional Athletes) he crosses
his arm----which everyone knows is a defensive posture and signs of a closed book. :rollsafe

Thanks Drew. This is exactly what I needed to hear from a voice that wasn't internal; especially with ADHD in the mix.

It rings true. All of it.

Being mindful of dosing, as @la szum points out (for all medicines) is clearly the appropriate approach.
