I’m already planning my next amp purchase(s) and looking at bigger pedalboards

I can’t even explain how much I’m loving having an amp and pedalboard again! I haven’t enjoyed playing guitar this much in years.

I haven’t even unpacked my fm3 since it got home last weekend

The answer to digital or analog rig is always both!

The best of both worlds is having both to go back and forth between. When you feel like digital is a compromise in tone / feel, you can use your analog rig. When you get sick of dealing with the weight, size, volume, limited versatility, and relatively limited control that the amp and pedalboard provide, you can break out your FM3 setup for a while.

Digital isn’t going anywhere for me. A digital rig will always be a necessary tool for the work I do, and I’ll always have one on hand for that purpose.

But I can’t fight the fact that I am far happier using amps and pedals

What pedals are you running?

Right now just a few:

DynaComp -> GE-7 -> ODR-1 -> Micro Flanger -> Micro Chorus

But the list is rapidly expanding, haha

Not gigging or anything but it’s the same for me. Much more satisfaction with a small analog pedalboard and an amp. Even if I have to use headphones it’s still a more engaged experience even if it the sound can be close to indistinguishable.

The feel and response of analog gear is so much more satisfying than digital. Even if the two sounded identical

The Axe-FX through a high wattage clean SS power amp and pair of 4x12 cabs gets so close that I find it simply to be a matter of preference rather than objectively better, but my experience is fairly limited. You've played a lot more gear and a lot more gigs than I ever have.

Probably safe to assume most of us here are in the “variety is the spice of life” camp. 2-3 tube amps and a flagship modeler and most of us would be good to go for life without much concern.

More often than not I’m combining my tube gear and modeling to get the best of both worlds, and I’m getting some of the best results I’ve had.

More often than not I’m combining my tube gear and modeling to get the best of both worlds, and I’m getting sone of the best results I’ve had.

That's where I'm at now...I had three different modelers and one mediocre tube amp. So I sold one of the modelers, getting a decent tube amp, and already planning on what modeler to use with 4CM lol. Might have to find another HX Effects

Shame that the Axe 3 can't do amp channel switching though, kinda weird.
