Getting the whammy to stay in tune is as much art as science, with a sprinkle of voodoo.
When I had a transtrem it worked great, until it didn't. Wear and tear on the parts made stability all but impossible. I was admittedly quite hard on it.
The second best system for tuning I ever used was the original PRS vibrato. That thing was consistent as heck.
