I read something similar elsewhere re: the weight.

But there's on on reverb right now under 6lbs.

Do you remember what wood choices your friend made?
It was black limba, so granted not a light wood. But I've had several others pass through the shop, and they were all more than 6 pounds, often 7. And those were alder and ash. None were chambered though. When you take into account most Strandbergs are somewhere in the 4 pound range, that's heavy for a headless.

My swamp ash Klein is a hair over 6. My redwood Klein is definitely in the 7 range. The weight probably wouldn't be all too different for me. Thanks for the info on them.

Strandbergs are freakin' light.

I think a chambered Zeus or Osiris might be the ticket. Probably fall in the 5 pound range.

Or bolt-on Vader. This one's light.

@BROCKSTAR has one I believe. Maybe I'm wrong...but I think he does.

Yes I have a kiesel zeus. I love it. I've had a few actually. 3 in the past few years. The 1st one had a whammy system and I didn't care for it and let it go, so I didn't miss it. I got another a bit later and loved it but like an idiot let it go and I missed it ever since and then finally got one again back in february of this year and this time im holding onto it and my main guitar!

The guitar is in my main profile picture too!

You can see me use it in a lot of videos this year

Was the whammy the hipshot bridge? What didn't you like about it?

Tasty playing in that video. I've always dug your looping stuff too.

Yeah it just wouldn't stay in tune for me! Then again I never have any luck with whammy systems!

Headless string locks are often at fault for tuning issues. The wide string slots and rotating clamps can easily cause the string not to sit straight and be prone to movement. Also people don’t tighten them enough. You really need to be just short of crushing the string too break.

Thanks for the reply.

Getting the whammy to stay in tune is as much art as science, with a sprinkle of voodoo.

When I had a transtrem it worked great, until it didn't. Wear and tear on the parts made stability all but impossible. I was admittedly quite hard on it.

The second best system for tuning I ever used was the original PRS vibrato. That thing was consistent as heck.

For all my hemming and hawing over whether I might like or dislike the Strandberg endurneck, I just bought another of the Ibanez Q series guitars….and it’s a signature model to boot! :bonk:ROFLMAO:

Just grabbed an ICHI10. It’s like a modern take on the single coil strat sound. The pickups have almost a PAF pro type quality to them with a very open, vowel like midrange. Super articulate, modern and unforgiving. :giggle:
