I'm sure Ed's a great player. I'm just making fun of the notion that a measure of a guitarist's skill is whether they fiddle with their own knob in one youtube demo video. I also believe that if you truly are a great player and are happy with where you're at in your musical career you don't go on internet forums to belittle more successful players because they didn't fiddle their knob.

So there’s a double standard some guys get to say anything they want.

It’s less belittling than simply being dumbfounded by it.

Just like as dumbfounded as why Manuel Fernandez Gardener or Ichiko sound stunning in their room but in public stuff falls apart.

The point if there is one to be made that no matter how great a player, the playing is only part of it. When stuff doesn’t work the show needs to go on.

When I was a kid I’ve seen plenty of bands that killed MacGuyviring stuff. And I saw bands that failed.

No kidding. In one youtube pickup demo video Abasi asks someone to adjust his amp. Ergo, he is incapable of doing it himself. I haven't seen many bigger acts with incredible players where tweaking amps wasn't handled by techs, are they simply lacking this fundamental skill?
