THE AMP SIM PLUGIN THREAD

I agree with @2dor . Due to my deep aversion to NeuralDSP I'm reluctant to admit this, but the transpose function of their plugins is pretty darn good.

Has anyone heard of this?

I really want to get on board with their stuff (demos sound great) but

- that price with no aax version is a hard pass
- No standalone version
- Mercuriall/Neural DSP/Line 6/STL etc all offer solid emulations that I already have, or are way cheaper with better bells+whistles

They seem to post online with confusion about why their stuff isn’t more popular (they are understandably proud of it). Not supporting aax just sends out a poor message IMO, when all other (serious) companies just get on with it.

Still want to try them but if I have to use wrappers etc then the price needs to come down considerably.

I have NeuralDSP, Softube, Brainworx, Mercuriall and probably some others.

But the first 3 are the amp VST plugin/standalone kings.

Helix Native is genuinely amazing. I just recently got the Mesa Mark IIC++ Suite from Neural, coz it was discounted at 50%, and I am digging it. But I don't think it is any better than the Fractal models. Just more convenient to have right there in the DAW.

New Mercuriall Jose modded 1987 amp out this week, seems pretty cool for Plexi type tones.

Also DiBiQuattro updated their plugins for AAX which is nice, need to try those again.

Amplitube 5 v5.8.0 Released

What's new in version 5.8.0:

Added support for the TONEX Joe Satriani Amp Vault Signature Collection.
Updated the TONEX chain and list appearance to match the TONEX application.
Improved search functionality in the sidebar.

Bug fix: Amplitube 4 presets were not appearing properly in the browser.
Bug fix: Couldn't enable cabinet after session recall.
Bug fix: Potential crash in Pro Tools during plugin load.

General reliability improvements.

If that Pro Tools crash is fixed, Ill be thrilled. Been having issues since at least 2022 with that.

Never tried this as no aax. But its on sale so maybe worth a look for some, it at least has a few amp models that aren't commonly modelled:

There was a ToneLib of Zoom Sims. It was, basically, a plugin version of Zooms.

The GFX... Is maybe Zoom algorithms too?

new Nolly update is nice, looks even better, runs smoother, sounds great. Liking the resizeable GUI,

Taper for the room reverb is kind of dumb though, all the useable sounds (IMO) are at like -20dB which is quite low in the range.

to me Helix Native is on my top 5

Helix Native has the effects game on its back but have u ever heard of Nembrini Audio? it's the dude that did a bunch of brainworx and universal audio amps

DiBiQuadro is dumb af, it sounds like fucking real life. DiBiQuadro just learned me what does the Dumble "box of rocks" sound. In modern mode on a dual rec it's R10 coming off of VT2, factory is 1800ohms, box of rox sound is lowering whatever tf that resistor is, starts getting spitty at 500 ohms, 5ohms sounds like the "$40k, only two ever made" sound. I don't even know wtf that is doing. Got to be bias point. And where Revalver lets you tweak some parts of the circuit in real time, DiBiQuadro lets you tweak the circuit in real time, and if you fuck up (put something at 0 ohms) it doesn't explode/die/crash, it just mutes itself till you put the component back in. Just running the demo but this is the best yet no cap

more than a few stinkers in here, but there’s pretty good ones too. I like

- Fuchs Train II
- Rockerverb
- Dirty Shirley
- Diezel VH4
- Diezel Herbert
- Ampeg Suite
- Suhr PT100 and SE100
- ENGL Savage

and even for just those it’s probably worth it. The pedals are ok too. Included IR’s are almost always bad (weird blends of odd mics, very phasey, lots of eq, and not typical “bread and butter” tones).
